Rating: Summary: Nuevo Testamento Review: What prompted me to order this particular version of the New Testament in Spanish on Audio Cassette was the statement in the publisher's review that it was accompanied by Spanish guitar music. Also, I was looking for a new translation, that would add variety to my Bible reading, since I currently use the REINA-VALERA Spanish translation of the Bible. While the quality of the recording is excellent, the reading is, in my opinion, uninspired, and rushed. I was not looking for a dramatized version, as I believe the life and words of Christ are best read as narration, not as drama, but I do believe more feeling on the part of the narrator is called for than what is found here. The music, rather than complimenting certian passages and moods (not set by the narrator in this case, although the subject matter certainly would provide for different moods) is intrusive and too loud. Rather than being very much in the background, it competes with the narration and is a constant companion to the narrator, rather than an occasional emotive response or embellishment. This was a novel idea, that of having flamenco guitar music to accompany a reading of the Bible in Spanish. It was a great opportunity to do something beautiful, that falls short. Perhaps it can be improved upon in the future. The packaging leaves much to be desired as well. The twelve tapes come in one small cardboard box. I ordered the New Testament in Italian elsewhere and it came in an attractive album case at no more cost to me than these.I am happy to have the NT in Spanish and will listen to it, for it is after all the content of the words and life of Christ that I am most concerned with, but I will always wish it could have been done with more feeling and better artistry.
