Summary: Outstanding scholarly visual treat!
Review: Derek Hayes does it again! Following the wonderful Historical Atlas of the Pacific Northwest in 1999, I was delighted to come across his new (2001) gem. It's simply sumptuously illustrated with hundreds of maps of the region from surprisingly early centuries up to the present day. Map fans will love this of course, but so will fans of Tufte and graphical presentation. Works both as a wonderful coffee-table book and a fascinating scholarly work -- plus a great story!
