Summary: Take this amazing trip; it is a gift for your soul.
Review: This book has been on my shelf to review for several months, but so many events took my time and energy that I am just now beginning to find my way back to words. My dad died January 5, 2002, and I gave the eulogy at his funeral. How do you share the love and life of someone so dear, yet bring comfort to others who are also suffering this loss? This book, this wonderful book, helped me to deliver a speech that gave the joy and humor that was my dad to others.

Rarely does a writer's reference book have the ability to encourage and inspire its readers or those who do not take up the "pen," to find the way to express emotions. Yet this book shows the joy and power of honest communications, and provides an easy to follow plan that helps all of us share our dreams, hopes, fears, and love with the important people in our lives. It also helps us realize that everyone is important, and to never take for granted the gift of friendship.

This book is an adventure through emotions, but it is so much more. Follow the principles, write the way you speak, be yourself, get rid of criticisms, and in doing so, you become the better part of yourself. Imagine, if you could read a letter and know what the reader was feeling; this book will help you see the ways to do so because in revealing ourselves, we gain self-knowledge and confidence.

Five stars are not diminished by the only difficulty I had, which was the very small size of the font.

Summary: The most precious gifts to give
Review: This book made a huge impact on my life because it showed me the way to communicate to people I care how much they man to me in profiund, simpole and meaningful ways.

In a season of rampant holiday commercialism and an era of shallow materialism, this book shows the way that most precioius lessons in life, the most meaningful expressions of love are the the very best gifts to give and can last for generations.

I wish everyone can get this book for the holidays and begin giving gifts of their heart.

Summary: Significant and practical suggestions for more impact.
Review: This book taught me five elements I can add to personal letters. I don't mean formula-type statements; these are excellent questions that make you think about details. When you add them into a letter, they transform your message from a "nice note" to a truly meaningful message that really gets through.

Last week, my sister visited (she lives 1000 miles away) and I just wrote a letter to her. My letter was so much more meaningful because I applied the principles in this book. It was not difficult or complicated to add those important elements into my letter, but it added so much more to my message than it had in the beginning. I was able to get across my message much more completely and satisfyingly.

Letters can really enhance communication in any relationship. Not only can a letter be reread (and so become more memorable), it can make an important communication much easier for the receiver to fully absorb because they can read it without anyone in front of them expecting a response. And a letter can be cherished long after you're gone.

I'm the author of the book, Self-Help Stuff That Works, and these writing principles really work. They're helpful. They're practical. I highly recommend From Me To You.

Summary: Better Than Great - Excellent, Simple and Direct Wisdom
Review: This is probably the best non-fiction book I have ever read. I bought it during a "difficult time" and it was the best medicine I could have received. FROM ME TO YOU has stories that anyone can connect with. It is poignent and heartwarming and I would recommend this book to anyone. I am not a religious person but the chapters really touched me, spiritually and emotionally. I found myself continually nodding my head as I read. God bless this book because it touches your spirit whatever your religion, helps you to grow and learn and makes it possible for other people to learn from your experiences too.

Summary: Connects us with others through the power of simple notes
Review: We all have the need and sometimes even the desire to write personal notes to others. Some people seem born with the kind of interpersonal intelligence to write sensitive, heartfelt, and honest letters while some of us can use some help. FROM ME TO YOU offers that help with instruction, suggestions for improving what we've written, and real examples. Each chapter will make you want to write to those you love.

This book gives you five basic elements for writing powerful messages that will resonate with those you address and will make the difference between a greeting card message and one that will be treasured for years. While a list can seem to sound like a formula that will come out trite or stiff, the actual results are personal and memorable. Each of them, especially adding a memory to your correspondence, makes your letter more personal an individual than any formula might imply.

Written with clarity and offering suggestions for letters that may be difficult or "sticky" to write (advice, cautions, sharing your worries), this book is one you can return to for guidance, inspiration, and ideas for writing those letters you know you want to send, but never seem to get around to writing because you're afraid you won't say it right. And yes, it makes a great gift.

Summary: If you only buy 1 book this year, let it be this one!
Review: What if you thought you only had one day to live? What would you say today? Who would you tell? How would you do that? What are you waiting for?

Those are the questions that get this book rolling. The questions asked and answered in FROM ME TO YOU speak to all of us. Chapter by chapter, this book presents eloquent stories about real people with real life issues who used the authors' suggestions to write messages for their loved ones. Some of these messages are funny. A few are sad. But every one of them touches on the themes all of us encounter like love, loss, memories worth preserving, and this rather simple truth: there is danger in waiting to express yourself in lasting messages for the people you love.

From Me To You: the reluctant writer's guide to powerful, personal messages is powerful and personal for all of us.

Summary: Very highly recommended
Review: Words provide continuity from generation to generation that surpasses our limited life spans to enrich the shared love of friends and family, to bind generations, and to offer hope to the future. Despite the power of words, many people are reluctant writers, uncertain of what to say or how to say it. To that end, authors JacLynn Morris and Paul L. Fair, Ph.D. bring their own writing skills, teaching experience, and research to bear, offering aid to the reluctant writer in FROM ME TO YOU.

Simple, easy to follow steps guide the writer through the process of conveying thoughts and emotions that might else wise remain unanswered and unspoken. Using the five basic elements enumerated in FROM ME TO YOU, writers can add depth and value to their messages. Concise explanations and the generous use of examples accompany each step, clearly illustrating each point. Many of the examples are both poignant and inspiring, aiding the prospective reader in finding their own voices and experiences. Difficult to write messages that reveal secrets or explanations likewise becoming easier to write with the aid of FROM ME TO YOU.

At last, a writing book for everyone! Whether your words are meant as a thank you, as an apology, to offer comfort or advice, or simply to affirm your love, FROM ME TO YOU will aid all writers in expressing themselves. Powerful, personal messages are our legacy to those we love, regardless of the purpose of the note, and can easily be strengthened by following these simple steps. One of the best writing resources I have encountered, FROM ME TO YOU comes very highly recommended.

Summary: Keep your pen close and your handkerchief closer
Review: WOW! I've read many books on writing, but this one is definitely the most powerful.

"From Me to You" is simultaneously touching and informative. The introduction was the most personal I've ever seen - I felt as though I was next to the authors as they were having their coffee and discussing their hopes for their readers. I was amazed at how many personal stories were used, and I found myself giggling (By Cook or by Crook, Chapter 8), sobbing (To Keep Them Safe From Harm, Chapter 12) and cheering (The Goodest Person, Chapter 16) as I read.

They have developed a process of identifying the most important elements to include in your letters, and provide simple steps to follow. The most important thing is to just get started by writing everything out first - you can always edit for content later. I promise that when you finish reading this book and try your hand at writing those letters you've been putting off, you will be amazed at what you create. Even if you think someone already knows how you feel about them, tell them. Though you can say "I love you" in a thousand different ways, the written word remains.

Somewhere, someone out there wants to hear from you.
