Rating: Summary: ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW! Review: I only read FROM ME TO YOU because someone gave it to me as a gift and boy am I glad that she did. The book's stories are like little life lessons with great big punch lines. The point? It's amazingly easy to put the things that count in the long run down on paper. Don't put off making messages of love that your family and friends can hold onto forever and don't miss out on this book.
Rating: Summary: Writing From the Heart Review: I read this book today and loved it. I even used it to guide me in writing a letter that I was having trouble with. It came at the perfect time. I e-mailed the author with the below: On page 26, you advise "John" to delete words that sound critical, blaming, and sarcastic in a letter he wrote...........Well, we have a word for that at our company. We call them "Blinking Words". They're the words that immediately stand out and take your reader off your message. When we write internal memos we remind one another to get rid of the blinking words- or the sale will be lost. I have had many letters to the editor published in the Atlanta Constitution over the years....one just 2 Sundays ago...and I can tell you from personal experience that it is the TRUE VOICE (something you speak of often in your book)that gets people to pay attention. I loved your insistence that we write as we speak. When I do, I'm at my best. When I don't, I re-write. I also loved the anniversary letter.......and I related to so many letters you used and the techniques you described for improvement. I have one more letter to write this week....and I know this book will inspire me to my highest thoughts. Congratulations on a wonderful piece. It moved me at times. Well Done Tom Ellicott
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book, Makes A Great Gift! Review: I thought this was a book about writing and it is, but it's a lot more than that too. From Me to You is like exploring the best things that all of us feel about our loved ones and then simply making sure we let others know that we care about them. JacLynn Morris and Paul Fair wrote this book in a way that makes the stories they tell about other people jump off the page and into your heart. This is my choice for best holiday gift of the year!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful. Wish I'd Had found FROM ME TO YOU Years Ago! Review: I was never very good at writing to people about anything. I couldn't think of what to say in thank you notes, birthday cards, or anything. What I wrote always came out sounding polite, impersonal and not even worth the cost of a stamp. But then along came this book, "FROM ME TO YOU," and all of a sudden I find that I'm writing to all sorts of people like long lost friends, "the guy who got away," relatives I haven't seen in years, and my husband and kids. The people who have gotten my letters and cards and emails lately seem to be really touched by the things I've been able to write about. I can hardly believe how easy writing seems to be to me now. I learned the secret to doing this just by reading FROM ME TO YOU. I still cannot get over how easy it is now for me to write to people. I am more grateful to JacLynn Morris and her co-author, Dr. Fair, than I can say. By following their five steps, I have been able to reach out to people in deeply satisfying ways that have added such depth to my life. I guess this sounds like I'm doing a lot of gushing. I am enthusiastic about how much this book helped me. I recommend this to all of you out there because if you are reading my review comments, then you have a chance to buy this book and feel as great about what you really can do as I do.
Rating: Summary: A book to read and re-read often Review: I'm 54. In my entire life, I've only read three self-help books from cover to cover and they were all less than 150 pages. I have never before read a book about writing. I'm a skimmer, not a reader. But a friend of mine strongly urged me to at least page through From Me To You. Once I started, I found myself reading almost non-stop and I finished the book in three days. Then I read it again. The authors, JacLynn Morris and Paul Fair, have changed many of my views about the need and ease of putting my thoughts and feelings down on paper now, today while these things are as fresh in my mind as is my love for my family and friends.
Rating: Summary: This Little Book is A Huge Life Changing Read Review: I've been wanting to talk my aging parents about the fact that they needed to get more help but I kept putting it off. I was afraid of hurting their feelings. Then I read FROM ME TO YOU and breathed easier. This book showed me how to write a letter to my parents that explained how I felt about them and described the changes I hoped they would make. They did! Of course after the fact, this whole thing seems like a no-brainer but without this book, I don't believe that I could have communicated with my parents nearly as well as I did. If you want to know how to talk about uncomfortable life events with other people in a way that doesn't make them angry or hurt their feelings - then FROM ME TO YOU can really help.
Rating: Summary: Trouble Conveying Your Thoughts in Writing ?- Buy This Book Review: It has always been very difficult for me to put my thoughts on paper. A simple "thank you" note was often hard to write, let alone writing a sympathy note or a letter dealing with a troubled relationship or an apology. Regretably, sometimes I never wrote an important letter out of fear of sounding too trite or just not knowing how. Through the use of five basic elements, "From Me to You" teaches you how to construct a meaningful letter that effectively conveys your thoughts to others. By illustrating what a precious gift such a letter can be to the recipient, it encourages you to commit your feelings to writing while you have the chance. While learning how to create a meaningful message is reason enough to purchase the book, for me, the most powerful portions of the book were the actual letters written by people dealing with their feelings during some of life's most challenging times. Seeing some of my own problems in print, being dealt with in an honest and healing manner, was deeply touching and enabling. There is also great advice on how and how not to give advice and apologize. The book showed me how to do what I wanted and needed to do - write!
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL READ Review: Let me begin by saying that I have never written a review for Amazon, but I felt I should in this case because From Me To You is a great read. Not only was I entertained by this book's amazing collection of personal letters and tight no nonsense chapters, but I increased my knowledge about how to write to friends and family without getting bogged down by too many insignificant details. The book was fascinating and I really cared about the people who shared their experiences and the dilemas within their lives. I would recommed this book to anyone and I will encourage my friends to pick up this book as a great summer read.

Rating: Summary: comfort and peace after divorce Review: Like a lot of other people, I went through a bitter divorce. Awful words were said, terrible wounds on both sides. Then years of silence. But reading FROM ME TO YOU gave me ideas and courage. I did what this book suggests. Used the elements of a special message, wrote a short note to my ex. He wrote back. After all these years, peace and closure came to both of us. This is a very good book. The authors made it easy for me to do what I'd thought was impossible. If I could do it. Any one can. Enough said.
