Summary: How To Tutor replaces Alpha-Phonics
Review: Alpha-Phonics (ISBN # 0-941995-00-3 - 1983)is no longer in print. Samuel L. Blumenfeld's How To Tutor is the perfect substitute for Alpha-Phonics (ISBN # 0-941995-00-3 - 1983). How To Tutor (ISBN # 0-941995-01-1) contains the forerunner to Alpha-Phonics phonics reading instruction program and was also written by Blumenfeld before he wrote Alpha-Phonics. How To Tutor not only contains the nearly identical phonics instruction found in Alpha-Phonics but also contains Blulmenfeld's Cursive Handwriting program and his Arithmetic program (Through grade SIX!). From: The Paradigm Co, Idaho

Summary: Great book I used to teach three kids to read so far!
Review: Happily I located this book through The Paradigm Company (now in its 17th printing.) We created a race track with a prize for each time around the track, representing 12 lessons. Ten times around the track and YOU CAN READ!!! Our seventh grade daughter just scored 13.5 grade level in language with the foundation provided by this book. My first copy fell apart after three children, so I tracked down a new copy to teach my fourth child to read. It's great

Summary: Best book available for teaching reading & writing together.
Review: I have used this book recently in a summer tutoring program. The children I worked with needed remedial help and did quite well with the simple lessons. Previously, I had used it to tutor children who were behind for their age group. I recommend it for families on a very low budget who are planning to home school. It's like Ragu. It's all in there and you don't need much else other than your Bible.

Summary: How To Tutor replaces Alpha-Phonics
Review: I hope all my book fans will look at my How To Tutor book (ISBN # 0-941995-01-1) as a very suitable substitute for my phonics reading book Alpha-Phonics (ISBN # 0-941995-00-3 - 1983) which is no longer in print. My How To Tutor book, originally published in 1972, has been used successfully by hundreds of thousands of parents/teachers to easily teach all three "R's" to children, especially phonics reading.. How To Tutor is every bit as successful to teach the three basics as it was when introduced over 25 years ago! From: Samuel L. Blumenfeld,

Summary: The best and least expensive phonics program known to man
Review: I used Alphaphonics to teach my children how to read when they were 4 and 5 years old. It was thorough, VERY easy to use, and worth every penny (and there weren't very many of them needed!). "How to Tutor" is indeed the same thing-different format-and every bit as excellent. I used Mr. Blumenfeld's ideas on teaching cursive )included in this book. I strongly recommend to anyone, buy "How to Tutor" and save your money for those reading books for your children, when before you know it, they'll be reading them, thanks to Mr. Blumenfeld's book. It really IS all that's needed. For all of you who are insecure about teaching your child to read, use this and be encouraged, your child is teachable, especially by you. Just take the lessons in this book and write them on a chalkboard and discuss it with your student (great, by the way, for teaching those of any age who never really learned to read properly) Have you gotten the idea that I REALLY like this book? Don't let the price fool you, you CAN get great stuff cheap.

Summary: A Word from the Author
Review: The original edition of Alpha-Phonics is now once more in print and is available at Amazon.com. However, How to Tutor teaches more than just reading. It teaches the three Rs: Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic. I wrote it to enable parents with little money to be able to teach their children the basic primary subjects at home. It's simple and easy to use. Because I have been critical of the way public schools teach children the basics, I decided to provide parents with a way to do the job properly at home so that they could be sure that their children learned the basics before going to school. I also recommend that you consider homeschooling. My book, Homeschooling: A Parents Guide to Teaching Children is a comprehensive introduction to the wonderful and exciting world of homeschooling. Read it. You'll be glad you did.
