Summary: WHIMSICAL AND WORTH IT
Review: A beautifully written, informative yet whimsical book full of Irish wedding traditions and the Irish lore behind them. I only wish I'd had it when my husband and I were creating our wedding ceremony... It's a lovely looking book with wonderful illustrations on linen pages. A great gift for anyone planning a wedding, or anyone simply interested in all things Irish. (I'm already married and I bought it for myself!)

Summary: At Last!
Review: At last! I have found the book I have been looking for for two years! There are no books on Irish wedding traditions on the market, and believe me, I have searched the world over! Finally, I found Ms. Lichte's delightful, informative, and most attractive gem of a book! I have given it to so many friends as gifts as well as used it for my own wedding preparations! It is so tastefully put together, and for those Irish food buffs out there, try her recipe for Angels on Horseback! You will pack up and move to Ireland as soon as you have washed up your dishes!

Summary: Great book!!
Review: I found this to be MUCH more helpful than "THE TRADITIONAL IRISH WEDDING" by Bridget Haggerty. Great supplement to the treasure trove of Irish wedding books. Well worth the few dollars spent on it!!!

Summary: Irish Wedding Traditions.
Review: I have just read the other reviews of this book. I am sorry Cammie Jo could not find the wonderful book I bought last year from Amazon on this subject. "THE TRADITIONAL IRISH WEDDING" by Bridget Haggerty. We followed many of her ideas for our daughter's wedding. From what you state, this book sounds like a repeat of the Haggerty book.We had found it to be so complete. Perhaps it is worth a try to compare Shannon's receipes. Never can have to many books on Ireland.

Summary: Here comes the Irish bride!
Review: I received Irish Wedding Traditions as a gift from my matron of honor (someone had given it to her before her wedding) and it was so helpful. I loved reading about the rich Irish wedding traditions and it made my wedding so much more special. I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for simple ways to incorporate their family's heritage into their wedding day. I bought this book for a friend who liked the elegance and simplicity of my wedding -- and she isn't even engaged, yet!

Summary: Charm and Tradition
Review: I very recently got married. I wanted to do something to add a spark of tradition to our wedding and reception: both my husband and I are are nondenominational so it couldn't be something religious. I am part Irish, but because my fraternal grandmother was ashamed of being Irish, she would lie and say we were from Scotland, we never embraced our Irish heritage. While wanting to add something special to our wedding, I went to the bookstore to see if there was anything that could help and I found "Irish Wedding Traditions". It was so great for me because I didn't know about any of the Irish Traditions--weddings or otherwise. She had some great ideas, it was very simple read, and most importantly, very simple to incorporate into our wedding to add charm and warmth. What our guests commented on most was the 'Celtic Loving Cup Ceremony'--we didn't use it as a part of our ceremony, we had some good friends read it for us before we all sat down to dinner. It was a great way to unite all of us again after the cocktail reception and set a tone for the toasts to come. We also offered some very tastey Irish champagne cocktails at the bar (recipes in the book). We put Irish emblems on our place cards that Ms. McMahon-Lichte suggests. It was a perfect book for me to get because I didn't have much time left, but I still felt something was missing from our wedding plans. This book helped me to come up with some finishing touches that were inexpensive and spoke of our lost heritage. I think my grandmother would have been proud at last.

Summary: Lots of ideas!
Review: Many people hail Bridget Haggerty's book as the 'must have' for Irish weddings. I purchased them both and was glad because together, they have all you need to throw a great traditionally Irish wedding. This book has scripts for ceremonies you can perform, which is why I purchased it. Neither of the two books have absolutely everything you ever needed to know about Irish weddings, but together, they offer a complete picture. I am planning an Irish wedding for about six months from now, and this book has helped me tremendously.

Summary: Lots of ideas!
Review: This book has many great ideas. I am just planning my wedding now, and I only have 2 months to go. I like the ideas for theme/decorating because several choices are provided, and all are simple and not too costly. I especially like the section on Irish flowers. It includes the meaning of each type of flower. And wearing an old pair of shoes on your wedding day is lucky. How great (and smart)!
