Rating: Summary: Very Highly Recommended Review: Dr. Beechick has a no-nonsense way of explaining things that I'd previously wondered about. This book is a history book, the true early history of man, unashamed to read the Bible in a literal manner. And, if you want to know more, she includes an extensive annotated bibliography. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to teach ancient history from a Biblical perspective.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant home A Must for All Homeschoolers! Review: Dr. Ruth Beechick has provided an outstanding source to study the beginning of the world. Its easily comprehensible and a joy to read aloud. This book presents exceptional look at Genesis 1-11, integrating history with art, literature, and other disciplines. Convincing evidence shows that Adam and Noah were real men, and that God did send a world-wide flood.
If possible get this book and "Adam and His Kin" (also by Beechick) together. You'll be glad you did. It's been a highlight of our homeschool year.
I was sorry to finish these books however, we continued along this line with the full year unit "Ancient History: Adam to Messiah." (Page number readings from "Genesis: Finding Our Roots" and "Adam and His Kin" are suggested in lessons).
Rating: Summary: Wonderful and thought-provoking Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as it caused me to think of the Book of Genesis in a completely different way. I suppose I had never thought of who, in the earliest generations of man, would have still been alive during the events of other "famous" Bible events and people, nor how it all could fit together with the histories of ancient civilizations I've read about.I was sorry to come to the end of the book, but glad that the author included an extensive bibliography, so I can further investigate, using some of her sources.

Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! Review: Ruth Beechick is an excellent writer. She has the insights of an academic in this book (as well as others), but is capable of writing to the young student as well as the adult. Highly recommended for unit study on ancient history or Bible study. Also a beautiful book, full of color photographs/graphics/fine art, and it is laid out well for the teacher.

Rating: Summary: Wholeheartedly recommended! Review: This book was an answer to prayer! Dr. Beechick looks at Genesis with such extraordinary depth, yet the book is clearly readable ( I found my 8 year old son reading it when it wasn't even assigned!) Excellent home school resource or unit of study for the family of faith.
