Summary: This book could change the world!
Review: Richard Carlson does it again! This is another book that puts perspective on life. So often we treat the people we love the most the worst. Carlson makes concrete suggestions to reverse this.

Summary: Don't Sweat The Small Stuff At Home: An Oxymoron
Review: Since I've been having some difficulties in my home life, I decided this book might help me. Well, it didn't. This is mostly a list of suggestions with no practical tips on how to actually manage your personal life. What's worse is that I've heard them all before. For example, he says that housework is never done, and that you shouldn't expect it to be perfectly neat. Okay, so what amount of mess is acceptable? If I didn't worry about housework, I probably wouldn't do it and my home would look like a garbage dump. Also, he gives no tips on how to manage your time, which was what I was looking for. He just says "Don't worry about getting everything done." You know, that doesn't help me an awful lot. 99 percent of the things I do have a deadline attached to them. He also says that you get rid of your clutter. I agree with him here, but what if you live with a person who insists on saving everything that comes into the house and goes into explosive rages when you throw anything (including things that he/she hasn't touched in years and don't even belong to him/her) out? Should I not 'worry' about it when my husband threatens to throw me out of the house because I put a newspaper from 1995 in the recycling bin? I would have really appreciated some advice on that. I don't have any kids, but I know from experience with my own sibling that if the parent doesn't intervene right away, the kids are going to be at each other throats and things are going to be twice as stressful as they were before. Children don't have the maturity to resolve matters diplomatically. They're egocentric--they want their way, and that's that. It's the parents job to step in and resolve matters. Also, I can't imagine telling my kids "Well, fine then, be bored" when they have nothing to do. That sounds a lot like "Get out of my face", doesn't it? And if you want a guarantee your kids will get into trouble, letting them 'be bored' is the way to do it. I agree with many of his suggestions, but they're things I've heard many times before and have already been put to use. Basically, if you're looking for a light, slightly inspiring read, this is the book for you. But if you actually have problems and you're looking for solutions, you should read some other book.

Summary: Wonderfully Soothing!
Review: So far, I can honestly say this book has changed my family life for the better! Having started reading it two weeks ago, I am more relaxed around my kids and spouse, and they are much happier. Such simple, easy to apply advice. Parenting books can be overwhelming with advise and the expectations to be perfect - this is the solution to the unrealistic demands we put on ourselves and our families to be perfect. Thanks to this author!

Summary: Profound Thought!
Review: This book brings us back to what is really important in life....relationships...all that we have...all that we can obtain has no greater meaning. It makes one stop and consider what they are doing with their life and what it is that can cause life to have some sense of happiness , peace and fullfillment. In our office, I take one "chapter" a day and share it with the staff. We talk about how that applies to us in our jobs as well as personally...we all are learning to find more joy as we quit "Sweating the Small Stuff!"

Summary: E x c e l l e n t !!
Review: What a delightful book packed with ideas that make you THINK. Lots of separate "articles" so you can digest one at a time. Such as: 'Don't Wait for Bad News to Appreciate Your Life' and 'Let Go of Your Expectations' and 'Forgive Your Outbursts". Another book I love: Perfect Parenting - The Dictionary of 1000 Parent Tips by Elizabeth Pantley. (The nuts and bolts of discipline/behavior)
