Summary: Wow ! A $ 15.99 Wedding Consultant . . . .
Review: A super 390 page encyclopedia of wedding planning that can't be beat. A really comprehensive volume to guide you step by step through the complicated process of having a wedding. A very complete table of contents along with a super index makes this guide very easy to use. There are over 3,000 individual entries in the index! It's written in a very light style (like the other "Dummies" books). Sometimes you need a little humor during the hectic days of wedding planning (and check the expenses that are mounting). Topics range from Spreading the News, Setting Your Sites, and What to Wear, to Music, Food, Photos, and "Nuts and Bolts and Loose Screws." We're referring to this book daily as we plan our daughter's wedding, without using a consultant. It even provides specifics for each major religion. You can't go wrong with this book. You'll even use it after the wedding to pull together the loose ends that occur. So far, we've been able to find the answers to all of our questions. Mom, Pop, Sis and Brothers have all used this, along with the bride, of course, and found it to be valuable.

Summary: Definitely helping to ease this bride's stress
Review: As a magazine editor who covers the gift book trade, I see all forms of wedding guides. I found this one to be the most helpful, however, because not only does it cover every conceivable detail a bride must consider in planning her big day, the information is nicely organized into different chapters (cake, flowers, caterer, dress, etc.) for easy referencing. Even better, within each chapter, paragraph-length tidbits are marked with icons symbolizing messages such as "Caution!" or "Plan Ahead!", definitely an aid to those dealing with short attention spans or high levels of stress.

Summary: Weddings for "Rich" Dummies
Review: As far as wedding planning goes, this book is a decent compilation of customs and how-tos for a "typical", $20,000+ American wedding. The writing style can be extremely pretentious and perhaps offensive to brides with small budgets or who wish to have a truly unique ceremony. Buy a few bridal magazines and you'll get most of the information contained herein, and a lot less preaching on the MUST-DOs of nouveau riche etiquette. It doesn't contain much information on cultural weddings, ideas for very individualistic weddings. High brow brides will find it lacking in top rung etiquette and budget brides will likely give up after the first few chapters. There are much better resources out there - www.weddingchannel.com for starters.

Summary: a great time-saver, jam packed with information&details
Review: Dummies--or those of us just too busy to dedicate years to planning our weddings--are well served by Kaiser and Blum. The book's information is coherently presented--not too sappy or goofy, but still amusing. Now that all our details are in order, I don't suppose you guys have a recipe for good weather?

Summary: Terrific and Invaluable Book.
Review: Everything we needed to know (after all we were on our own planning the wedding), all in one nice package. Lots of useful information like the list of questions to ask the baker, photographer etc... I have already recommended it to other people.

Summary: Detailed, But Worth it!
Review: Great resource book but definitely geared to those with generous wedding budgets (the sample menus and reception depictions are pretty prohibitive). On the other hand, if you are like me and planning a second wedding, it's a relief to have one of the top wedding consultants in the nation give you permission to create a celebration that allows you to feel like a bride.

Summary: Good for the New Bride
Review: I found this book to be very helpful. It gave many good ideas and cost cutting tips. I would suggest it to the new bride, it has many ideas, things you don't always think of.

Summary: Good ideas
Review: I got this book for my daughter. Her wedding is planned for November 2003. She is already calling me constantly with ideas from this book.
