Summary: Incredibly useful book
Review: Pros: This book has been incredibly useful to me as a first time mom. The book has a wealth of information on baby care and what to buy. The book is detailed and I'm still referring to it regularly for my infant. It has recommended products, brands and nice summaries. The book is also tied into their web site for newer updates. This book is GREAT - get a copy!
Cons: Very minor - has a complete list of baby web sites but some of those are not the best (poor customer service).

Summary: Go with BEST BABY PRODUCTS instead
Review: BABY BARGAINS is okay, but you've got to wonder about how they test their products and how they come up with their buying advice. After all, they're not Consumer Reports. Plus, the book is over a year old and baby products change quickly. I decided to go with CONSUMER REPORTS BEST BABY PRODUCTS and I found it more helpful because it's new and the advice is unbiased.

Summary: A MUST HAVE for parents-to-be!
Review: This book has been a wonderful resource for this new mom-to-be! I have used this book to make choices for my baby registry items, and have learned a lot in general about baby products. I really enjoy the sections in the book where they break-down each manufacturer and give them ratings. This book has been well worth the money, and I would recommend it to anyone that is expecting a baby!!

Review: I have had the pleasure of reading various editions of this book over the years while compiling the lists of recommended readings for my own pregnancy and baby books, and I can say without a doubt that each edition keeps getting better and better -- to say nothing of thicker and thicker!I love the format of BABY BARGAINS. It's the perfect size to fit inside a diaper bag. But, more than that, I love the parent-friendly tone. This book is fun to read and jam-packed with need-to-know information: just what today's generation of parents are looking for. It's truly a must-have book.

Summary: A great resource for new or expectant parents
Review: I got this as a gift from a friend (who also gave me The Girlfriend's Guide, another gem!). As first-time expectant parents, my hubby and I had no idea what we needed...and the employees at the local Babies-R-Us store tried to convince us that our baby needed thousands of dollars worth of loot! This guide is rather easy to navigate and the authors give really sage advice about what is really needed and what can be done without. Additionally, there are tons of money-saving tips. I especially like the in-depth information regarding factors I'd never thought about, such as ease-of-use of equipment and health/safety factors to consider. This book has been invaluable and I'll definitely be buying updated copies as my friends and relatives begin having children.

Summary: Good guidebook, but not totally accurate
Review: I found the author often rating products based on a single consumer's comment on a product. You have to remember that new (and probably improved)products have come out since the time the book was written, so take that into consideration. For instance, a Babys R Us fitted sheet by Koala was rated "C" because ONE consumer said it shrunk by 6". Well, I bought it and had no problems with shrinkage. Look to Consumer Reports to verify some of the authors reviews as well as other consumer comments on products at babysrus.com. This will give a more rounded opinion of products.

Summary: Great Tips for Expecting Parents!
Review: I've used this book as my handbook for my baby registry. As a first-time parent, I was overwhelmed by all of the many choices for baby products. I was totally unaware of the difference in quality between different brands. This book compares the various manufacturers in each category. I was surprised to discover that one manufacturer may have an excellent quality stroller, but a terrible playard. I used this book in conjunction with parent reviews on the Babies R Us website. Baby Bargains also has a website where you can find updates & manufacturer recalls. The book was also helpful in suggesting those items that you just don't need! I'm a huge researcher of everything before I buy it. This book was very helpful! I'd recommend it to every expectant parent.

Summary: Everything I needed to know
Review: I couldn't say how much money I actually saved using this book, but use it I did. We really appreciated the ratings given to the products that babies really need. We referred to that book for every major baby purchase and most little purchases. My daughter is 3 now and I still use it to find the right products for our needs. I have recommended it to every friend having a baby.
