Rating: Summary: Just Buy It Review: This is a wonderful book. It not only suggests what is good to buy, but things that are often-recommended but a waste of money. They supplement more formal research with information and recommendations from actual parents who use the products discussed. I would highly recommend that any expectant parent buy this book.
Rating: Summary: A Must For Parents & Parents To Be Review: I have recomended this book to everyone that will listen! I used this book when I was pregnant with my daughter and found it to be a valueable tool in deciding on which products I would purchase and register for. The authors have no monetary interest in any products therefore you are receiving an unbiased view of all of the products and their manufacturers. On several occastions I e-mailed the authors with questions and comments and they responded each time with helpful and friendly advise--finally people that can help and they care!! In an overwhelming market of baby products this book will help you through your journey!
Rating: Summary: A must for first time parents! Review: I bought the second edition of this three years ago when I was pregnant with my first child - it was a great help for buying baby furniture and baby items like carseats and highchairs. It also has great sections on stores that carry baby items, clothing catalogs and websites for children, and many other facts and tips that were helpful.I now give it to all my friends when they are pregnant - and they all have raved about it. The authors write in an easy to read style and nicely combine facts with humor. Highly recommended, it will save you some money and educate you as you begin the great adventure of parenthood.
Rating: Summary: The Best Baby-Stuff Resource Book Review: This is not just a book that can save you money. It will help you make smart choices when it comes time to purchase things for your baby. I got this when I was pregnant with my first baby and I loved it. I brought it with me to the store where I registered. It is really a great resource!!!
Rating: Summary: A must-have for every Mom and Dad to be! Review: This book is SO reasonably priced, but it would be worth every penny even if it were 4 times the cost! I take it with me every time I do any baby shopping or registering, even though I've read it cover to cover and highlighted all important portions (especially brand names, ratings, and website addresses as well as safety concerns). I trust this book completely, and it has guided every choice I've made: bedding, crib, layette, stroller, highchair, play yard, etc. I swore by the Bridal Bargains book when planning my wedding, and the Baby Bargains book is every bit as informative! If you are expecting, GET THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Every expectant parent should own this book!! Review: I am not kidding when I say this is the BIBLE of baby products. The Fields get their information straight from the trenches - PARENTS who actually use these things! I had problems with the monitor that I chose & I used this book to help me find one that would work for me. It also cuts through all the baby-mania that stores like to induce (no pun intended) in moms-to-be. I love this book and their website/newsletter.
Rating: Summary: A New Parent's Must Have Guide!! Review: I'm a first-time parent and this book was a lifesaver. It helped me wade through the myriad of products on the market and develop checklists for things I needed. Not only was it great for helping save money, but also gave practical ratings on many baby items (cribs, strollers, car seats, etc.) to help me make intelligent and informed choices. Great reference for websites and manufacturer numbers/addresses, etc. I could NOT have survived all my baby purchasing without this book. I wholeheartedly recommend it for any parent-to-be!!
Rating: Summary: Good Book, Misleading Title Review: This book was a great primer on the baby products market for us first-time parents. But the title is a bit misleading. I would propose a new title: "Baby Stuff, How to Avoid Buying Products From Bad Manufacturers." What this book was extremely helpful with was telling us which manufacturers had an established pattern of producing products which were subsequently recalled, which wore down too quickly, or which were overpriced. I don't think this book really helped us save money on what we bought, it just helped us buy good stuff the first time. So I guess we saved money by not making bad purchasing decisions. As I said, good book, misleading title.
Rating: Summary: Great gift Review: I was given the Fields' 'Bridal Bargains' and it was such a help that when friends had children I returned the favor with 'Baby Bargains.' Every mother-to-be I have given this to raves about the book. There are cautions (check with the Consumer Product Safety Comm. for recalls, don't buy certain things at garage sales) and practical advice that you won't get from the helpful sales clerk at the store. Buy it for yourself or give it as a gift. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Have for Expectant Parents! Review: This book is to-the-point and straightforward truthful about everything you'll need for your baby. It's very informative and easy to read, so you can decide what products will be best for you. I recommend this book to every expectant parent I meet!
