Review: This is a great book! Like many others, I originally thought that this book would help me get everything that my baby needs for a cheap price so I went in with a misconception. However, I don't think that the title is misleading. If you follow the tips in this book, you really do save money. The book does not focus on how to get things cheap, it just tells you where to spend your hard earned money. (You can't sacrifice the safety of your baby for a discount.) And most often good quality is going to cost you. There are lots of gimmicky products that people buy simply because manufacturers say "you have to have this product." And this book does tell you where to buy diapers and other baby products at bargain prices. Plus this book opens your eyes to lots of things that you don't normally think of if you have never had kids before. I can't think of anything that this book doesn't address for expecting parents (from furniture, to store return policies, to baby food and maternity clothing). The websites that are listed can help you find great deals. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to save money and get quality products. I know that it helped me tons when I went to register!

Summary: A MUST-HAVE book for new moms!!!
Review: This book is a must have book for all new moms!! A friend let me borrow this to read and use when we registered for baby items at Babies R Us. We spent 4 hours registering. Yes, my husband wanted to die, but it was worth it. This book not only give you hints & tips to save money, but it also gives reviews on the manufacturer and they grade them for each product line. Say you are interested in getting a crib or a carseat, or a swing. You go to that section and you will find a listing of manufacturers that make cribs... and they give them a review and grade them A-F and they give reasons why!! I was going to get a Century carseat. It's a popular name, so, I thought it must be good. They got graded an F because of certain reasons. So, I mainly used this book to register and pick the best grade A product for my baby due in March. I reccomend this book to the fullest! It's informative and very helpful!

Review: Don't go shopping without this book. It's invaluable and has some great kid-raising tips as well. The only thing I'd add is that you may not need a changing table -- read Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy to get its advice. But this book is really a gem.

Summary: Great for first time mommies!
Review: I am expecting my first child and, as many of you know, the whole experience can be very overwhelming. Because there are so many "necessities" out there it's hard to decide where to begin. The authors of this book not only lay out a timeline for what you will need and when, they also offer solid advice based on actual consumer comments, suggestions, and personal experiences. While they are not consumer safety testing experts (let's leave that to Consumer Reports) they do base some of their recommendations on recalls that have been issued by various companies.This book may or may not save you money depending on how compulsive you are. In my case, I am a minimalist that sees a need for only those items that are truely necessary. For those items, I am willing to spend as much as necessary to get quality products. This book helped me decide what was most necessary, and in my opinion, THAT is what saves the most money. I know that I am not alone in my opinion of how resourceful this book really is. While wandering around Babies R Us, I couldn't help but notice that other mothers were also carrying this book around with them. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

Summary: it's a great product review book, but...
Review: i'm not sure if it helped me SAVE money. yes, i would recommend this book, but not for the money-saving purposes. the selections and reviews are so very middle-(and in some areas, kind of upper-)class american. on the other hand, i was impressed with the authors' concerns and thorough research on the products' safety aspects. information related to safety and dependability was more valuable to me than knowing how much money i was saving. put it another way: it's actually not the amount of money you would save, but the VALUE (unlike price, VALUE is subjective) that you'd be getting that's emphasized in this book. would you rather pay [price] on a safe, durable, pleasing-looking crib from a respectable manufacturer than [price] on a generic, less sturdy one with that "so five years ago" look? it is still a very good, useful book. i'm only giving 4 stars instead of five, because i felt that the title is somewhat misleading.

These are words that describe this book. It is truly a wealth of information. It saved me from buying overpriced junk for my baby. It pointed out places to search. It never tried to sell me anything. This is a book for anyones baby budget. You can figure out how to get the best stuff for your little one at the lowest prices easily if you read this book. I give it to all my expectant friends. EVERY PARENT NEEDS TO READ THIS!!! Don't feed the baby companies! Be informed! I've never seen a book that comes close to this one!

Review: This book is a wonderful reference for anyone wishing to purchase baby products. It is not about locating the cheapest products. It is about locating the highest quality products for your money. Initally, I was turned off by the title, because I was after the hightest qulaity products, not just the best price. I soon learned that this book advises you when it is wise to buy the highest grade and when to save your money. After reading a few chapters, I soon learned it sometimes pays to purchase certain products with all the bells and whistles and sometimes they are just marketing gimmicks and it is better to save your money. This is a great book for those who wish to have background information before purchasing a product. The authors really know their stuff.

Review: This book is great! While the book details the bargains to be had for expecting parents, I found the book to be most resourceful in telling me what I needed and what I didn't need as a new parent. This is a really smart book and an excellent guide book!
