Review: Like all DK books this little (72 page) book is very pretty and well organized. Unfortunately it provides little info and also misleads the buyer. At first glance it appears to cover 101 fish ("101 Aquarium Fish" is in large print) but only 40 fish are covered and 5 of these are just different types of goldfish. Of the remaining 61 "Essential Tips" included are: Tip #61-Clubs, discusing joining a club, and tip #45 Choosing Prepacked Food, showing photos of different food types ie flakes (2 types shown), pellets, tablets etc.

Summary: A good book for fishkeepers with previous knowledge
Review: Not enough in formation on setting up your tank or disease and breeding. Definitely not a book for beginning fishkeepers. A good book to give you ideas about your tank. To keep fish, you need another information source other than this book.

Summary: Sensational little book, beautifully done
Review: Really a little gem of a book. It's small enough to fit comfortably in your hands and it's just stuffed with information and tasty graphics. The Art Director must have been giggling with delight, the book is really a showpiece. The colorful photos jump off the page and the text is handled in the usual effortless DK manner. Even if you have zero interest in fish, this book is a joy to page through. Beautifully put together.

Summary: Very Poor Publication
Review: This 'reference' is a huge dissapointment. All you get is a bunch of pictures that don't even look like the fish denoted. This can be very confusing for anyone without alot of previous fish knowledge. Aside from the 'pictures', there is nothing to this book. A sentence or two vaugely attempting to describe the organism's natural habitat (ex: fast-flowing streams in southeast asia). No numbers or values on any of the important fascets of Aquariology besides length of the fishes (and even this is incorrect in some areas). This book wouldn't be a complete failure if it contained quality photographs, but it dosen't even come close. It is very ironic that this book is titled 'Eyewitness Handbooks: Aquarium Fish' when it can't even depict the animals correctly. What a waste of money.

Summary: A good overall general book that lacks depth.
Review: This book by Dick Mills is a well formatted concise hand book. If you want to know a little about everthing aquarium related, this is the book for you. Unfortunately, most of what is covered in this book was not new to me, and the depth I was hoping for on some subjects was not present. The pictures are great, and there are lots of them, but to cover all species of even freshwater fish, you need a book that is a lot bigger, as I now know.

Summary: Aquarium Fish - Great Identification Photos ............But
Review: This book is a good reference for those trying to identify a particular fish. With 167 pages devoted to Tropical Freshwater, many popular species are covered. Listed are size, diet, tank level and temperament notations. However, many species requirements such as Water Hardness, pH, and Temperature Needs are absent. I would also like to see Ease of Keeping notations for the beginner. With a grand total of only 4 pages devoted to aquarium set-up, this book is simply not adequate for the individuals looking to establish their first aquarium. A much better guide for the frist time fish keeper would be 'You & Your Aquarium' also by Dick Mills. In short, this book is worth having in your reference library if you are buying it for fish identification purposes only.

Review: This book is pretty good. It only takes an hour though to read the whole thing. It covers alot of subjects but at about only one paragraph each nothing goes into enough detail. But for the price I guess you can't expect much.
