Summary: Great Concept, badly formatted
Review: I got the media disk to help my mom learn Hebrew. It is helping her so much. The program works in a way that really encourages someone new to the language to keep learning. Each lesson focuses on another word or 2 of a prayer. The only problem I had was that the media disk does not work properly. I don't know if it is my computer or the CD itself, but vowels show up incorrect, and voice does not work. I strongly recommend to anyone to buy the book, but not neccessarily the media disk.

Summary: What a buy!
Review: I have been struggling with the Hebrew letters for years. All the standard grammars introduce you to the letters and then whoosh! You are looking at pages of unfamiliar symbols that make your head ache and your heart sink. This book is a godsend. It takes you slowly but surely through the letters and you put them together in small words at first and being rewarded with quick results, you end up doing more than you would have done without this feeling of achievement. The text is not patronising at all and just one week after purchasing this book I can read the Hebrew Bible making the correct sounds; I might not know what I am reading but I can now get on with that stage! If you are struggling at the same stage as me (proto-beginner) invest in a few bucks and get going with your Hebrew!

Summary: How can a book this short be this good?!
Review: I kept racking my brain for something negative to say about this book ... but I failed. It does its job well. It is complete and concise (heck, it's even on acid-free paper, and only costs $8.95!). The letters are large and clear (so you won't confuse vav with zayin, or chet with tav). It is filled with exercises, culminating in excerpts from the siddur (it feels great to be able to actually read something REAL and not designed for 'beginners'). My advice? Buy this book!

Summary: Not Helpful At All
Review: I'm a bit bewildered that this book has been highly rated by many readers. It left me absolutely flat. Aside from a reasonably good explanation of the vowels, I felt helpless with this book. The author's approach toward learning a language completely failed to connect with me. I was expecting to be led by the hand, and instead felt abandoned. I consider it a waste of money.

Summary: Shalom
Review: I'm an absolute beginner in hebrew and this tiny book have been very useful to me. It took me by my hand and guided me through the beautiful hebrew alphabet, teaching me words without even realizing what was happening.
Believe me, at the end of this book, you'll be reading biblical hebrew!

Summary: get this book today
Review: If you have been wanting to learn Hebrew but thought it was impossible, this is your book. You will not believe how quickly you can learn the aleph-bet and how exciting it is to actually read the siddur as it was meant to be read. I highly recommend this primer.

Summary: Very complete and easy to read..
Review: The book is very easy to read and understand, but I was a bit disappointed in the religious overtones. There are people that want to learn to read Hebrew as a language, not for any religious purpose.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Interesting concept
Review: The book teaches the Hebrew alphabet (Alef Bet) by going through blessings. What's good about the book is that it teaches consonants and vowel points at the same time so that you're making sounds right away. What's not so good is that it doesn't teach you grammar. So, you can learn the words in the book, but can't make your own sentences or figure out the meaning of related words.
