Rating: Summary: 0 stars Review: This book is a SHAM. The author's writing style is unclear and repetitive. Try Cutler's book or PRinceton reviews's Reading Smart.
Rating: Summary: Enticing information contained for the book Review: This book has making me read. I found out to read is can be fun. Ever heard of it. My own books are faster to have now!! Practice doing it and I have noticed a mental change in attitude. You owe it to yourself and read! Everybody will participate; should be fun. Believing is the reading possibility now.
Rating: Summary: Drop your Paradigm Review: I'm already an excellent reader (speed reading as well). I tried/played around with the system, and found out the more you rely on you older (especially if your subvocalizing 'reading the words' during reading) the harder it will be to learn this system. This is especially true for those who automatically discount the system. Once you relax (try playing relaxing music and eliminating all distractions), you comprehension level goes up quite a bit. So do the amount of 'spontaneous activations'.i.e. the definition your looking for is on page 45.. I find for technical material (i.e. computer books) it still takes a significant amount of time to learn in requisite details for a certification, still less than it would normally..however these are some of the best books to practise on as they offer questions every section to check for comprehension. Each subjects going to be different. For a comparison, normal reading is like trying to draw a figure in final detail from the beginning. Photoreading lets you sketch to the level of detail that you need to get the job done. As sometimes you need the nuts and bolts, other times you just need the gist of it. Photoreading helps give you more options to reading in different ways to match how much comprehension you actually need at that time.

Rating: Summary: Yeah... it really works. Review: Prior to reading Photoreading, I was averaging a book every 10 days. I now can read a 300 page book in 60 to 90 minutes with better comprehension and retention. I totally understand why anybody would be skeptical about these claims,(they're amazing to me) but they're absolutely true. The only downside to this book is that I'm buying a LOT more books at Amazon.com. But man... I'm learning a lot.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT ,A BOOK YOU MUST BUY!!!! Review: I got the book just yesterday and i xcan tell you that it makes you more relaxed and therefore better able to retain all the information you 'speed read'. iTried it on my economics test which i had previously reviewed the old fashioned way .I was able to read all the mateial and absorb it in a quater of the time it would have taken . i got a A for the test ,so does says it all. However the exact procedure of photoreading i have not yet mastered, but like all things good in life ,it takes time I say five stars and well deserved at that.If you need any more information regarrding my thoughts of the book give me a shout
Rating: Summary: Pure Garbage Review: The fact that this book received so many good reviews makes me question this [Amazon.Com] way of reviewing books! The "photoreading" technique is simply crossing your eyes and flipping through a book. It doesn't work, it can't work, and it will most likely make you nauseous. Geez, I feel embarrassed to even have to write this review. Does the author and his peddlers feel any embarrassment? Here's the secret to mastering a subject (I get this from two great French intellectuals, Ernst Dimnet in _The Art of Thinking_ and A.D. Sertillanges in _La Vie intellectuelle_):1) limit your reading to only the best (and here only 4 or 5 authors are necessary on any one subject)2) read deeply (get Mortimer Adler's _How To Read a Book_ and learn how to thoroughly digest a book, mark it up, make it your own)You don't soar to the lofty heights of a subject by reading almost everything, but by mastering less than a dozenbooks. Sorry, all learning is painful, and if it's not,it's probably not learning.Pass on Scheele's book, please!
Rating: Summary: Good book for graduate students and trainers Review: I'm using Paul's techniques to learn more NLP, computer engineering and real estate strategies. I liked it so much I sent my cousin, Eden; who's a psychiatrist to help her pass her boards. Photo reading works! I'm getting awesome grades in grad school right now. I'm a partner for a real estate company. I'm using photo reading with my learning of Microsoft and Novell networks! Life is grand. Get this book and apply more with it! One may imagine learning even more with delight and amazement, now.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for students. Review: Initially, I was extremely skeptical. I practiced with the book for one week and noticed some results. Now, a mere four weeks after I purchased the book, my reading speed exceeds 1000wpm for law school texts (compared to the embarrassing, sub-vocalized 200wmp speed from which I began) and approximately 2000wmp for casual reading (with much stronger long-term retention capabilities and comprehension)! With more practice, I am certain to achieve a faster reading speed with even greater comprehension). Remember, "photo-reading" is a skill and thus takes time, patience, practice and, most importantly, RELAXATION. For me, I realized more than a five-fold increase in 4 weeks with 3-6 hours per day of practice and I'm not done yet....
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: I feel this book is second only to the Holy Bible. I took a chance and bought the book which has opened up a whole new world of processing information. Most speed reading books focus on how fast your eyes can move across a page which can cause frustration (and lead to migraine headaches in my case.) Paul R. Scheele has done his homework and developed a system unlike the others, which will definitely work if given the slightest chance.
