Summary: Valuable tool for writers, editors, teachers, parents
Review: As editorial director of large children's book publisher, the Children's Writer's Word Book is an invaluable tool in preparing and editing manuscripts for K-6 readers. Easy-to-use, well-organized. Inconsistencies pop up from time to time -- but overall, a great reference to have on hand.

Summary: Mogilner has created a fantasticly valuable book
Review: I originally came to this site to order more copies of Children's Writer's Word Book because I was told I could get it at discount. What a joy to be able to share my experience with others. We have used CWWB for two years now to create materials for our Missionaries to use in reaching souls for God and in teaching English as a second language. Whatever your use, please please look at more than just the word lists. The back section, introduction, and the beginnings of "age" chapters are of great value. Blessings, Rev. L. Montez

Summary: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Review: I'm in the process of writing my first children's book. The CWWB has helped in more ways than one. I have already worn the pages down. A must for any children's book writer.

Summary: The best book on writing for children I have found.
Review: More than just a list of words and grades, this book actually tells you what publishers are looking for and why. It also gives examples of writing, explains how to introduce new words and foreign words and diffrent types of childrens writing.

I have used this book a great deal with good results.

Summary: Graded Word Lists + Age Profile = GREAT BOOK
Review: The Children's Writer's Word Book is one of those littlereferences you wouldn't necessarily think you needed in yourcollection. However, once I opened this book, I knew I needed to place it in a very prized position on my reference shelf.

Not only are the graded word lists extremely helpful, but the short profile of each age group combined with the description of what publishers are looking for at each reading level makes for a powerful advantage when writing for children.

This book is a must-have if you are writing for children.

Summary: Indispensable for childrens writers.
Review: This book is clear and well thought out. I often find myself pulling this book of the f for writing style tips and word lists. It has helped the clarity and readability of my writing for the K-6 crowd. It is also useful for creating spelling lists for children. No other book can compare.

Summary: Absolutely indspensable
Review: This book is essential for anyone who is writing for children. As a writer of online web content for kids, I need to specifically target certain grade levels. Both Mogilner's word lists and commentary let me do that with confidence. The book is well organized and was instantly useful.

Summary: A thesaurus/dictionary?
Review: This title is exactly what it is: a thesaurus/dictionary designed for children readers. If you expect anything else from the book you will be disappointed. I was mislead by the title when I read the reviews prior to the purchase. As soon as I got the book and opened it, I realized immediately it wasn't the book that I expected. Also, the book available now appears to be a new edition. The book I am referring to must be the prior edition.
Caveat emptor: no matter what book or item you opt to buy, if at all possible, go to your local store and check the item there first before committing to an order. It saves you from a headache.
