Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Beneficial Review: It has been some time since I've exercised my brain cells to form grammatically correct sentences on paper. I found this book extremely helpful in refreshing my mind to the "basics" of grammar. Ms. Stilman provided enough examples for even those who are slow witted (like myself) can understand. Her style is simple and straightforward without making you feel like an idiot. I highly encourage those who are looking for an easy way in understanding grammar (rules even the average person forgets at times) to buy this book. In fact, it helped me in writing this review.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: if you're serious about writing Review: Some books never go out of style, rarely become dated & endure as useful, understandable & applicable, GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT is one of those. My copy is flagged at the problems I just don't seem able to remember, underlined where I consistently err. It has taken on a well-worn look as I refer to it repeatedly while I edit, making sure that what I've written is as polished as I can make it. All those English classes we took at school become forgotten as we daily use our language & become so familiar with it that we don't realize how idiosyncratic is our style, how we perpetuate grammatical glitches, consistently misspell, & pepper our prose with breathless punctuation. GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT is eminently user-friendly & definitely one of the best books I've found on what good writing looks like & how to attain it. (Ampersand (&) notwithstanding-that's my idiosyncratic stand!)

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Poorly organized, difficult to navigate Review: There may be some very helpful information in this book, but it is near impossible to find any of it. The index is missing some seemingly obvious entried, and the the table of contents isn't all that helpful either. You'd be better off with the Chicago Manual of Style, which contains everything you could possibly want to know, and is much better organized.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Reference Review: This book is so good, my teenage son has discovered that he can use it as a better reference than his textbooks. The book is neatly written with a clear concise style. In addition to grammar, the book is a great resource for questions about usage, punctuation and spelling. As a journalist I need to have resources such as this readily available. I keep this one next to Strunk and White.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An ideal reference for the grammatically challenged. Review: Whether you are brushing up on your grammar, or you were never very good at it, "Grammatically Correct" is an excellent reference. It is clear, concise, and easy to follow. I agree with a previous review that the chapter should be listed at the top of the pages for easy flipping, but it's something one can easily forego. This book covers a wide array of common oversights not just in the world of English grammar but spelling and punctuation as well. There have been times where I have argued with my computer when it flagged something with a grammatical error, but I now know what it was talking about. This reference has proven to be very useful both at home and at work.
