Review: I am in the process of teaching myself spanish, and this book is an invaluable help. I have been using it in conjunction with a Spanish/English dictionary and the 501 Spanish Verbs book, and I would highly recommend the same to anyone who asked. What I like about this book: 1. The lessons are presented in a logical (to me anyway :-p) order, and each new lesson builds on/re-enforces what you have previously learned. 2. You have ample opportunity to practice, practice, practice what you have learned. Each lesson has at least one practice section where you can practice reading and writing what you have learned. 3. The answers are included in the back of the book, so if you're not sure about something, just look it up! No wishing that you had the teachers edition! 4. The price can't be beat!

VERBS UNLIKE ANY OTHER BOOKS, IT HAS VARIOUS OF EXERCISES THAT WOULD LET YOU PRACTICE IN SPEAKING AND WRITING SPANISH IN ANY SITUATION. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE TO BUY THIS BOOK. BESIDES, IT IS INCREDIBLY CHEAP AND WORTH USING FOR THOSE WHO
ARE SERIOUS IN STUDYING SPANISH.

Summary: I can't say enough positives about this book!
Review: I'm quite a bit older than most people trying to learn a new language, and I have found it much more daunting than it was when I was in high school. I am determined to learn to speak Spanish - not just to read it or even to write it. I have found most over-the-counter do-it-yourself books to be extremely lacking in one way or another. Some don't cover all the verb forms (hey, who needs "tú" anyway? You're never going to become friends with anyone who speaks Spanish, right? And of course, you'll never need "vosotros!"). Most don't even begin to cover the tenses except, maybe, the past perfect. Still others aren't much more than long lists of nouns. What was disturbing me was that after nearly a year of independent study I knew more than 700 words, but I couldn't begin to say things I wanted to say - things that are quite natural to me in English - to my Spanish-speaking friends. I found this book about 2 months ago and I consider myself fortunate to have done so. It starts out quite simply and builds upward from there. It's like a dam has burst and suddenly I can see how to say what I want to say. I enjoy working with it so much, I literally spend hours on it every day. Once I've finished the written exercises I hand the book over to my "significant other," who then reads the English sentences to me so I can say them back in Spanish. The astute learner will find that the book covers many aspects of the language such as word order and preposition use which are not annotated in the book, but will be absorbed through exposure. I would love to see an annotated version of this book - it would be even more valuable. This book would be daunting for a rank beginner because it depends upon the reader to already have some established vocabulary, but for the early intermediate to advanced learner it is a GODSEND. And it's so incredibly inexpensive, I'm going to buy another one once I'm finished with it and go through it again! Thank you, Ms. Devney Richmond, for this book. I can't wait for more from you!

Review: This is the best grammar/verb book out there. I have been through it 3 times in the past few years, both to learn and to revise my spanish skills. It is extremely well organized, easy to understand, and the exercises are second to none (it's even entertaining and funny!). If you only buy one book, make it this one. And keep it!!

Summary: Excellent through and through.
Review: I spent over six months in Spain. While I was there, I took Spanish classes with a native Spanish speaker, and THIS was a primary text. It is excellent. It is very well organized. It has wonderful exercises. I found its workbook format very useful (you can rip the answer sheets out of the back and put them into those plastic sheet protectors, copy the original exercises, and work them numerous times to really drill home the particulars). It wasn't heavy as a brick, so I could carry it around and work during odd moments. I found the translation exercises particularly well-thought out and worthwhile, especially with my Franklin DBE-1440 pocket spanish translator.... Don't even wait to buy it. And it's CHEAP enough that you can afford it TODAY!

Review: This book by far is one of the most complete and easy to use books I have found. First the concept is explained, and several sets of exercises follow, starting fairly easy and becoming fairly complicated. Answers are in the back (of course!) for those who would like to check their work for accuracy. This verb book and the pronoun/preposition book by the same author are indespensible in my classroom and at home. I highly recommend it to teachers and students!

Review: I bought this book before spending 2 months in mexico. It helped improve my spanish tremendously! It gave clear examples of verb forms that I had trouble grasping in the past. It was extremely helpful for my spanish skills while in Mexico. Its not expensive and worth the purchase. I recomend it to anyone who wants to improve their spanish!!

Review: I am a Spanish teacher in a community college. I found this book while browsing a bookstore, and purchased it immediately. I find the examples and the explanations to be excellent. I have recommended this book to many students who are either having difficulty with the textbook we are using or who want more practice.

Summary: A course in itself on Spanish verbs- a great resource!
Review: This is the only textbook/workbook available on the market so far that is thorough in its objective which is to study, analyze and understand Spanish verb tenses and moods. I deem this workbook as a course in itself on Spanish verbs and the various rules and usage due to the completeness and extensive coverage provided in every chapter. The book provides a summary of the topic to be covered, examples of the verb concept in a phrase, practice exercises and amazingly enough a practice translation which encompass all the verb concepts taught in the chapter and concepts taught progressively throughout the book. The practice exercises allows for immediate application of the concept being reviewed and the answer key at the back allows you correct your exercises and realize your strengths and weaknesses during the learning process.I recommend this book to intermediate and advance level Spanish students as well as native speakers who wish to clarify and perfectionize specific verb concepts that prove to be difficult in Spanish. I have used this book with my students and also for personal clarification of doubts from time to time. This book will definitely prove to be beneficial and can be studied as a course in Spanish verbs. If you follow the lessons chapter by chapter you will realize the correlation from one chapter to the another and therefore progress in your understanding of the concepts being reviewed. You can't go wrong with this purchase as it is educational, economical and an eternal verb resource material. High recommendation given.
