Summary: Forget "The Best Is Yet To Come," It's Here!
Review: As a college professor of writing for eight years, I have checked out many books on the easiest way to present our difficult English language. There are so many rules, and then there are so many exceptions to those rules.
Jane Straus' "Blue Book Of Grammar And Punctuation" is the best book I have ever found.
Ms. Straus presents concepts in simple language and follows them up with excellent examples. She gets right to the point.
I would highly recommend "The Blue Book Of Grammar and Punctuation" to anyone who teaches English, grammar, and writing.
I would also recommend this treasure for anyone who wants to polish their writing skills.

Summary: Don't get nostalgic.
Review: Don't buy this book just because its title brings back nostalgic memories about college and the Blue Books used to take exams. First off all this book is not shaped like a college Blue Book. This book is as big as a magazine, only with a blue book cover. There are less than 100 pages to this book. This book only goes over most common grammatical error/issues or problems. If you are expecting a scholarly exegisis on why you should use a semi-colon as opposed to a colon, you are going to be sadly disappointed. This book is a nice quick and dirty on English grammar. Buy it, if that's what you want. There are a number of exercises that help reinforce the grammar concepts presented. Don't buy it if you are looking for a blue book to remind you of college and mid-terms/finals.

Summary: Excellent resource
Review: I bought two copies of this book, I found this book online and I immediately ordered it. I find that it is a great quick reference quide that allows individuals to test themselves. The tests reinforce what you have just read about grammar and punctuation. I reccomend this book for individuals who want a reliable and easy to use reference for grammar and punctuation questions.

Summary: Excellent quick reference
Review: I have been seeking a concise, easy-to-understand grammar guidebook for some time now; upon finding the Blue Book, my search is over. It has helped me tremendously, both in my writing and speaking. Hats off to Jane Straus!

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I have struggled my whole life with grammar and punctuation UNTIL I read Jane's easy-to-understand, incredibly helpful book. I would recommend this book to anyone, even people who think they already understand the rules. I have given copies to my friends and co-workers. They are now telling everyone they know to buy the book. The examples are clear, the exercises helpful, and the layout perfect for those of us who were not English majors. This book has also helped my children to understand the rules painlessly.

Summary: Bare bones -- not much else -- waste of money
Review: I reviewed this book already once and for some odd reason the review never appeared. Well here I go again.

This book is published by a company called "Bare Bones" .... well that's exactly what this is. The editorial comment was that it is "entertaining" and "indispensable" -- it is neither of those. This book is very, very, very basic. It does not cover all the grammar you need, as it would suggest. In fact, if I knew how little it covered I would have never purchased this book. One more thing buyers may wish to know, this book is put together much like a magazine -- just plain old stapled together, no binding at all.

If I knew how little this book actually covered and how poorly formatted it was I would have never purchased it, ESPECIALLY for the high price! It isn't worth wasting your money over -- I wish I never bought it, spare yourself the same mistake.

Summary: You can benefit from this book.
Review: I've been a technical writer for about 7 years, and Jane Straus' "The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation" is the best reference I've found. It's extremely well organized, ensuring that readers can quickly locate a required topic. Concepts are described in clear and simple phrases, and backed up with examples one would find in everyday language.
I can't help but wish I had discovered this book when I was in high school - I know it would have made a huge improvement in my writing skills, but more than that, I might have better understood how English "works". I would happily recommend "The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation" to anyone who reads or writes.
