Review: I have traveled and worked all over the world and constantly meet REALLY smart, successful, people-oriented professionals (who don't have MBAs), so I know that your success in life does not depend on the name of the MBA program on your resume. There are countless unsuccessful MBA graduates out there. The top five schools I looked into are well-known, but they offered me doo-doo in terms of strengthening my skills as an international manager and the companies who were recruiting were only focused on attracting i-bankers and consultants who just want to make big bucks. Many of those people who apply to top schools are insecure about their abilities and think a Wharton or Stanford MBA (two programs to which I WAS accepted with a 610 GMAT and 3.0 GPA) is their key to success. The really insightful MBA candidates out there are the ones who don't have blinders on and know that there are really solid programs out there that are specifically tailored to their needs and which they will really enjoy.

Full of real life examples, sample essays, useful statistics, it will help you understand the process better and tailor your application to a specific business school's requirements. The book improved my application package tremendously: I was admitted to the top three business schools in the nation. A definite must read!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is the book you need Review: If you're going to buy a self-help book for business school applications, this is the one you need to get. I've read four other books covering the same material and nothing is as in-depth as Montauk's book. A lot of his advice is common sense, but when you're competing against thousands of other applicants, some of his not-so-obvious information can be invaluable in giving you an edge. I purchased two more copies to give to my friends, just because I thought this book was invaluable. I had a 3.1 GPA from a good school and was applying after only three years in the work force. I agonized over the process and really took Montauk's advice to heart. Of the five schools I applied to, I got into three and am headed off to my number one choice. If your scores aren't great, don't lose faith. Use the information provided here, market yourself out-of-this-world, and prove to the admissions committee that you're a superstar.

Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: 'Who Can' rather than 'How to' Get into the TOP MBA Programs Review: If you think the advice given by the author is insightful , i think you are not those guys who can enter the top B-schools. If an applicant scored 650+ in the GMAT , how come he don't know what to emphasize in his essays . Don't you think it is ironic that an applicant for the top B-schools don't know the "right marketing strategy" for the application ? Most of his advice is common sense for the applicants with "solid academic aptitude " and "strong managerial potential" .
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Got me into Stanford GSB Review: How to Get into the Top MBA Programs can give you a considerable advantage. It provides the right mix of RELEVANT advice, from high-level strategizing to application details. I was a bit skeptical of graduate level advice books, but I don't think I would have been accepted at Stanford without it. If you are thinking about a top MBA program, get this book.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: I'll pass Review: If you're as bright as it takes to get in one of these schools to begin with this book will just annoy you. The only reason why I think anyone would buy this book is just reconfirm what they want to hear. This book has no real hidden secrets that some clam. But if you think it will help you, by all means order it.
