Rating: 4 stars
Summary: So many choices, so little time
Review: A reader's first problem will be deciding where to begin the adventure. The anthology includes poems, short stories, plays and essays from a diverse array of writers. Since the authors are arranged in chronological order, readers can easily leap from one time period to another. Part of the reading adventure comes from the juxtaposition of serendipitous leaps through the time periods and literary genres. The movement from culture to culture adds to the richness of the experience.

This anthology provides enjoyable romps for many sunny days as well as thoughtful reflections for cloudy days. The collection of women writing about women's lives informs, entertains and encourages. What a good book to have lying around to be picked up whenever one wants to visit another woman to see how life is going for her. The selections are timeless and the combinations endless. Even after someone has read the book cover to cover, one can reread pieces and make new connections. Those who take the time to explore the lives of others will definitely have enriched their lifetimes. What a joy: This rich delicacy is calory free. It's also Emily Dickinson free and that omission displeases me; and explains why I gave the book only 4 stars.
