Summary: Finally!
Review: Just so you know, I served in German Armor units during World War II, and so I know garbage when I see it. This meticulously researched compilation is the very best I have ever seen; when it comes to the over-all coverage, it has no equals.

What pleased me most was the fact that it even has good background material on my own outfit, the 216th Sturmpanzer Abteilung with its "Brummbär". Most people, even Panzer enthusiasts, do not know that there were German Armor units that used 150mm guns in World War II. They phantasize about Tigers and Panthers, and oh, yes, the Ferdinand; they leave the best weapons platform of World War II behind, because it apparently lacks glamor - the Panzer IV with all its uses and transformations and....uh... transmogrifications.

A must for historians, enthusiasts, and those who were there -- like I was.

Summary: An excellent one volume survey of German AFVs
Review: Like its US/Brit companion volume, this work on German tanks and AFVs is comprehensive and detailed. At slightly less than 300 pages, it is terse but it covers a multitude of variations and tank equipment including the ever popular Goliath Sd Kfz 302 and 303 variations. There are pictures aplenty and useful appendices covering, among other things, the major weapons carried by these tanks. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I thought it could have used more operational information on the different vehicles. All in all though, for an inexpensive one volume source book on German AFVs, I have not met its equal.

Summary: Panzers galore!
Review: The authors have written a very comprehensive study of German tanks from early prototypes to the Porsche 205 (Maus) and the E-100 series. The selection of photographs is excellent ranging from parade footage to combat in the most bitter European winter. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Mile wide and a foot deep
Review: The book gives a great account of all AFV in the German inventory. The short comings of the book are evident in the lack of color photographs and information regarding how the unit was used/performed in battle.

Summary: Encyclopedia of German Tanks
Review: The Encyclopedia of German Tanks is a complete description of the Panzertruppen of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. The technical details are excellent although some of the picture captions are vague in describing the action or location portrayed. This is a very minor flaw. The book is very complete and includes a number of armored projects which never reached the front. I would recommend this book to any and every student of armored warfare in World War II.

Summary: Beauitifull reference, an absolute must
Review: Thi book is an absolute must for every ww2 enthusiast, modeler and technical enthusiast. This book cover every tank selfpropelled gun and tracked, half tracked and armored vhiecle ever produced or even experimented by the Geramn's during ww2 and even before that, plus it covers the prototypes. I think that this book is the best encyclopidia on german armour during ww2, with over 1000 black and white photo's it is an indispensable rereference.Worth every penny, highly recomended.

Summary: An Awesome Book
Review: This book is full of great pictures and descriptions of all the german vehicles used in WWII. It is the best book I have seen (& own) about this subject matter. I would definitly buy this book again!...

Summary: Excellent reference for historians and casual readers
Review: This book ranks as one of the most informative of the German Wehrmacht vehicles. The essential data is provided along with the corresponding picture.( The interior turret views of the panzers is a rare treat not often present in many similar books!), and the reader is able to see the multitude of different armored designs introduced throughout the war. Even a listing of what kind of vehicle using what brand of radio is provided. Maybe what really shocks is the production number of Germany's Main Battle Tanks comes no where near to as many as both the U.S and Russia produced, giving credence to just how good these weapons and crews had to have been to hold the Allies off as long as they did.

Summary: Excellent source of reference
Review: This book remains one of the best sources of reference regarding German military vehicles during the Second World War. However, it should not be mistaken like some of the previous reviewers that this book is some sort of history book on the German forces. If anyone wishes to read how well the Panther or a Tiger did in combat, read else where. This book remains a data reference source. In this book, you will find all you ever want to find on the technical military data of all individual German military vehicles and their different model types. I found the information to be highly useful in almost every usage I get out of it, as a historian, wargamer, modeller and even as a film reviewer.

The book claims to be a definitive book on the German military vehicles and for once, this is not an over hype. It would be hard to find another book which hold this much information and data on all the individual German military vehicles as this. I would considered this book as one of the mandatory books in any World War II historian's library.

(In clarification, this book covered all the combat vehicles which served with the German military. It doesn't covered vehicles like Schwimmwagen or Kubelwagen or regular army truck.)

Summary: An Indispensable Guide to WW2 German AFVs
Review: This has got to be the best one volume reference on German armored fighting vehicles of WW2. I love the wealth of material presented--for each major class of vehicles, there are entries for subvariants, different marks (ausf.), and modified vehicles. For example, under PzKpfw IV, you would find separate entries for all marks from A through J, then entries Jagdpanzer IV, Brummbar, Mobelwagen, etc. Also included are all the armored cars, half-tracks, and other vehicles used by Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. Each entry is accompanied by wealth of detailed stats and operational history. This book is a must for any WW2 military history buff!
