Rating: Summary: Great short, but fairly detailed chapters! Review: This book is great to use during the course of an AP Euro class and also for review at the end of the year. The short chapters give fairly detailed descriptions of time periods. But, don't depend on using just this. Best if used with a more detailed book.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Review Book Review: This book is the perfect review guide for European History. I used it throughout the year in my AP European History class, and it covers exactly the required material, in a concise, easy to study format. One of the best things about this book is that it is about European History, not the AP European History test, making it a great review book whether you are taking the AP class or any other European History class. Also, for those in AP, you will learn the history thoroughly, not just how to pass the test. The book is a perfect size to carry around and pull out whenever you have a free moment to study; it was in my backpack all year long. I cannot express how great this book is; I would give six stars if I could.
Rating: Summary: A great book for anyone taking AP European History! Review: This book is very effective in reviewing for European history tests. It is short, but very detailed. It does not contain all the unneccessary information that many textbooks have. I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking AP European History.
Rating: Summary: If you want a 5, get this book... Review: This book really helped me to essentially relearn an entire year's worth of material in the span of about 3 three weeks. It provided some really good structure and substance to my independent review, and I think is largely responsible for the 5 I got on the exam. The book's biggest weak points are its lack of cause-effect relationships (read: the causes and consequences of 1848), and its description of intellectual movements. Otherwise, the book is great and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: IB students Review: This book was great for taking IB Euro Hist. If your text is long winded and so is your teacher, try this out. The IB test likes names and dates, so this book is perfect!
Rating: Summary: Some what helpful Review: this book was quite helpful, but it wasn't very interesting because there weren't pictures to give an illustrated summary of history. Overall this book was written well and because I was forced to read it I was glad I did. GO WHITNEY and BUY THIS BOOK because it is worth the 7 dollars, don't buy it at barnes an noble or borders because they simply don't have the book.
Rating: Summary: Modern European History Review: This is the perfect resource for anyone looking for a thorough, yet concise, review book for a European history class. Although I did not sign up for the AP European History class at my school, my teacher recommended that I sign up to take the test. I did sign up, but due to a lack of self-studying, I felt that I was going to get a 1 or 2 on the exam in May. In April, I bought this book. I read it everyday (and everywhere) until the exam. (I even read the book during other classes!) By the time I took the exam, I felt I was adequately prepared for it. I managed to get a 3. There is no doubt in my mind that if I had used it over a longer period of time and read it without any distractions, I would have gotten a 5. I highly recommend this book to all European history students, AP or otherwise.
Rating: Summary: Simply the Best Book for the European History AP Test Review: This last year I took the European History AP Exam. I bought many books including The Princeton Review, Baron's, and REA. The only things these books have to offer over MEH are sample tests. But, where MEH losses in tests it destroys the competition in terms of material. All the information you could possibly want is in here in a very organized fasion. If its on the test its gonna be in this book. I received a C and a B in my EHAP class. These grades would make you think I'd get a 4 at most, but during the last two weeks before the test all I did was read this book and ended up with a perfect 5. A must read for all "EHAP" students.
Rating: Summary: Modern European History Review: Thsi was a GREAT book. It truly reinforced what I learned from the textbook and class lectures. Though it is no replacement for the textbook it it covered the material in a thorough and effective manner. I used this book to review before tests in my AP Euro Class and scored 80% or higher on all essays and tests. I would suggest using this as a study tool along with text and lecture notes. As a result of this book and my other sources I got a 5 on the Ap exam!
Rating: Summary: Best Modern Euro Reviewer Avaliable Review: Viault presents a pleasantly conscience and surprisingly rich era-by-era analysis of Western History... a must have for any AP or college course, a great reviewer and reference. Timelines, maps, and clear subtitles make this pocket-sized book a keeper!
