Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The Alaska Gazetteer needs an Alaska road mileage chart.
Review: Good book, but a useful feature would be a road mileage chart for those Alaska cities and towns which are connected to the road system. For instance it is very difficult using the Gazetteer to determine the highway mileage from Anchorage to Talkeetna. A simple chart similar to the one you have for more far-flung destinations like Seattle etc., would be a welcome addition to the Gazetteer.

Summary: If you want topographical information it is great, but
Review: it is difficult to use and really too large to handle on a trip.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Interesting, useful, but difficult to handle.
Review: This is an atlas that anyone planning to drive to Alaska should have, but the clear, readable maps are marred by the paper they were printed on. The paper is stiff, which makes turning pages difficult. Too bad, because this is a very good atlas.

Summary: Atlas & outdoor recreation guide to Alaska
Review: This is the only collection of detailed topographic maps covering all of Alaska! The majestic mountains, immense glaciers, endless forests and countless other features that make the 49th state such a special place all stand out in bold detail on these rich, full-color maps. Special sections in this Atlas include a temperature/precipitation/daylight hours chart, a mileage chart from Alaska cities to numerous points in Canada and the Lower 48; a map showing overland approaches to Alaska from the US Pacific Northwest through Canada; a polar view of Alaska in relation to the rest of North America, Asia and Europe; and a fold-out map showing all of Alaska with physical relief. There are also street maps for the cities of Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. And, because most of the state is remote wilderness, there is an Index of Placenames and Physical Features. You can use it to locate not only cities and towns, but also mountains, peaks, rivers, lakes, bays, points, and myriad other natural features as well.
