Summary: No STRs makes this useless to Real Estate/Surveying Industry
Review: Delorme did a useless job on the Florida atlas, the side roads are not named at all. The main roads are named and what good is that. This is the worst map that I have encountered from Delorme. I would not recommend it to anyone. I would like my 19.95 plus Florida tax back on this atlas.

Summary: Outdoor recreation guide to the Sunshine State
Review: Featuring 30,000 additional roads and complete information about things to do in the Sunshine State, the new Florida Atlas & Gazetteer has been re-released by DeLorme.

The new atlas, which replaces the previous one last revised in 1989, is a 128-page book that provides comprehensive maps for the entire state of Florida and features 17 pages of Gazetteer listings that include descriptions and locations for: · Beaches; · Saltwater fishing; · Theme parks; · Freshwater fishing; · Golf courses; · Wildlife areas; · Parks, forests and recreation areas; · Museums; · Botanical gardens; · Historic sites;· Zoos and aquariums; · Bicycle routes;· Pari-Mutuels: · Natural springs; · Baseball training camps; · Canoe trips. The Florida Atlas & Gazetteer features full-color maps for every corner of the state, from Ft. Clinch State Park to Key West. In addition to interstates, highways and back-country roads, the pages show active and abandoned railroads, power lines, woodlands, mangroves, orchards, swamps and boat ramps.

The atlas employs a scale of 1:150,000, or approximately one map inch for every 2.3 miles on the ground. In fact, joining all of the atlas pages together results in a mosaic measuring approximately 17 1/2 feet wide by 15 1/2 feet high.

Summary: No STRs makes this useless to Real Estate/Surveying Industry
Review: I just bought the 5th edition of this Delorme Florida Atlas. However, the Florida atlas does not include the Section, Township, & Range system that Florida County parcel # real estate legal descriptions are based on thus making this atlas useless to the real estate/surveying/flood zone determination industry.

The Section, Township, & Range system is especially useful when you are dealing with new construction that aren't on any maps yet, or with incorrect/incomplete addresses. With the STR system you can get the location narrowed down to a one square mile area.

This lack of STRs was surprising to me because I recently purchased a Wisconsin Atlas by Delorme that had STRs in it & it was very useful.

This was a major mistake/oversight on the part of Delorme & I am returning my copy to the map store tommorrow. Hopefully, they will correct this error in the sixth edition.

Summary: LACKS OF DETAILED STREET NAMES
Review: I use this book occasionally, but it is lacks the detailed for use by itself. Where I do use it is with mapquest, that tends to not show the smaller lakes, but the Gazetteer does a much better job.

Summary: Essential for outdoor types
Review: I'm on my second copy, the first one is worn to shreds. This gazetteer gives me the confidence to head down any jeep trail. This map has everything from boat ramps to bike routes.

Summary: Great but not as helpful as Maine Gazetteer
Review: The DeLorme series of gazetteers are the the best maps you can get for just about any state in the country. I use the Florida and Maine gazetteers extensively and have gotten so I can't do without them. The Maine Gazetteer has a section of City Street Maps which includes detailed maps of 23 of Maines largest cities. The Florida Gazetteer doesn't have this section requiring purchase of additional city maps. I also find it curious that public colleges in Florida are not identified but they are in Maine.

Great , but could be better.
