Rating: Summary: Great guy! Review: Although I have not used this particular book for test-prep, I have used the author, Mark Anestis, to prepare for college entrance exams. He is a great guy who is funny and helpful at the same time. We would meet for an hour at a time and the time went so fast! If the time flew by during our session, I can only imagine that this book helps increase scores dramatically!
Rating: Summary: Needs work Review: As an unbiased reviewer, I found that this review book inadequately covered much of the material, sometimes leaving topics unexplained. Explanations for the multiple choice questions are also incomprehensive, with such explanations as 'You just have to know that.' Although the studying schedule is helpful, the diagrams are poorly drawn, and attempts at humor are merely distracting. I would recommend the Kaplan book.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: Before reviewing this book I was getting 3-4s on my practice tests. This book is very helpful in simplifying complex issues and the humor the author used kept me from falling asleep! A lot of the facts and questions the book told me to focus on were actually on the test! This book helped me get an A in my AP bio class AND a 5 on the AP!
Rating: Summary: Mark Anestis - APE Biology Review: Fun to read!!! It is a great review book, and not just useful for the test, but also helpful when taking an Intro Bio class.
Rating: Summary: 5 Steps to a 5 Delivered as Promised Review: I absolutely loved this book. I am much more english-oriented and had only taken AP Biology to look good on college applications. However, a friend of mine talked me into buying this book and I couldn't believe how helpful it was. I think that I completely knocked my teacher's socks off when I scored a 5 on the exam after a whole year of strugging. You need to put some time into studying... but this book is definitely the way to go. I'll thank Mark Anestis every day for the next four years when I don't need to take a science course at College. Anyone who wants to get a five should invest in this book and spend some quality time with Mark!

Rating: Summary: AP Biology Condensed... Review: I found 5 Steps to a 5 extrememly helpful in reviewing for my exams. In addition to sample tests, I found that the organization and the conent summaries were really useful. It's also really important, but it didn't feel like I was reading a manual.
Rating: Summary: This is a fantastic book Review: I have used this book alot in the past year, sometimes as a main source for information. It is the best study guide out there for AP Biology, as it really teaches you the complex topics, without making you memorize and not learn. Analogies and practical applications make hard concepts remarkably easy to grasp. I would highly reccommend this book to both the A+ student and those who need support. This book is a keeper!
Rating: Summary: I actually laughed while studying for the AP! Review: I never, ever thought that I would laugh while reading about photosynthesis, but I did while reading this book. The author (Mark Anestis) makes the concepts understandable, and you don't feel like you are forced to go through material that isn't necessary for the exam. Even if you are not planning to take the Bio AP, I recommend using this book along with the class textbook.
Rating: Summary: Okay- but gave false info Review: I soley used this book and ended up getting a 3 on the exam without spending as much time as they recommended. In the lab section they said outright that we would never have to do a chi square problem on the test- but it was an essay question. If you have a good teacher, have a school that will allow you to do the labs, and are willing to study hard; then by all means use this book. If you don't then I recomend using a more extensive book to learn the material, not just give an overview.
