Rating: Summary: Brilliant Idea Review: What else can I say but that this is a brillant idea? What better way to prepare for the SAT's than to take the actual thing? It also covered a lot of important math and verbal concepts. Anyone taking the SAT needs to buy this book.

Rating: Summary: Ideal SAT Prep Tool Review: In my opinin, "10 Real Sats" is the most effective book you can find for preparing for the SAT I's. The first half of the book contains all the review material that you will need to prepare for the math and verbal sections in a clear and concise format. As long as you have been fairly concious during your high school english and math classes, this book reviews all major concepts that you will need to know...how do I know? Well, because I took the SATs several months ago, and because this book, as it lets you know many times, IS made by the test-makers. Therefore, it ACTUALLY DOES contain the most accurate and specific information. The review consists of concept outlines, example problems with full explanations, practice problems, and how to answer each type of question. And you know what? It is VERY true to the test itself. As for the 10 real SATs, they are, indeed, ten real SATs. I believe that this is really the best way to prepare, because it familiarizes you with the several different types of questions (saved me LOTS of time on the test becuase I didn't have to puzzle over directions very long), and allows you to concentrate on the portions that you feel the least confident about. You may not end up actually taking all 10, but it's nice to know that they're available, and that you can pass them on to future generations of SAT scholars. In short, this book boosted my knowledge and my confidence, helping me to succeed beyond my hopes on the SAT I. My math score (math being my weak point) went up 140 points from the PSAT, totally owing to this book. I highly recommend it as a very unique, accurate, and effective prep tool.
Rating: Summary: Buy this if you want to go to college. Review: If you are taking the SATs I, you NEED this book, no bull. The book is really thick, but it's definitely worth it. The first half is basically SAT material that you need to know. The information is pretty solid, and they summarize all the important points for you really well. They don't make it convoluted or long-winded. They also include some key test-taking tips/strategy that helped me alot. It's not really for procrastinators, however. Three days won't be enough to cover the whole book. Give yourself around two weeks to a month. The second half of the book, in my opinion, is way more important than the first. If you are really cramped for time, don't bother going over the information in the first half. Just TAKE THEIR TESTS LIKE CRAZY! Do as many practice tests as possible. Trust me, by the time you take the ACTUAL test, you will already be an SAT veteran. All of the practice questions in the book have been REAL SAT questions, so you own't be surprised on test day. The practice questions are VERY similar to the real questions (think same formula, just change the numbers), and so i got a pretty accurate view of the test and the material it covered. If you are going to buy any SAT prep book, start with this one.
Rating: Summary: Does this book help? YES! but with another book. Review: This book is one of THE BEST things you can do to prepare for the SATS. The real questions really get you a feel for the test, and you get the REAL FORMAT. But be warned-you should use this book along with a practice or preparation book. The exercises and tips at the beginning of the book are helpful, but they are NOT ENOUGH. Also, you will need a book with vocabulary terms to learn, and you should brush up on algebra and geometry too. Kaplan books have been helpful, and Schaum's outlines are also excellent, but this book helped me the most BY FAR: Boot Camp For Your Brain by M. Denmark Manning...Once again, this helps very much, but only when used with another book that helps you practice your skills. Still, it works: I went from a 1270 with the first practice SAT to 1480 on my first real testing
Rating: Summary: Great for Practice on the Tests; Not for Learning Material Review: This best thing about this book is that all of the tests in it have been previously administered at some point, so are quite similar to what you are going to see in the exam room once you take this test. However, this book is mainly designed for practice, not so much learning the material. I am currently a junior in high school. In order to prepare for the verbal test, I went to a 15-person class with a woman who used parts of this book to teach some good strategies for taking this test, as well as hundreds of vocab words that are often used. As a result, I went from scoring in the low 600's to the high 600's. In addition, I did some math prep with another person, since I was hoping to achieve a score in the high 700's, even though I was currently scoring in the low 700's (raising from a 700 to 770 is alot harder than raising from a 600 to 670). This book isn't able to provide the same kind of help these two people did to me, so don't rely on it for prep. However, it meets its main purpose, which is to provide students with sample tests. Oftentimes, after my lessons, I would take one of the model tests to see how my scores had progressed; this book was a great indicator. Taking my best scores from the two times I took the test, I got an 800 Math and 680 Verbal, which I am proud of. Therefore, I recommend that you buy this book and find some good tutors if you want to impress colleges with your scores.
Rating: Summary: Perfect for Rookies and Veterans Review: This is it. This is the SAT Bible. In preparing for the SATs, ou lack this book then you lack the best exercises out there. The first half of the book is "strategies". These are useless to any veteran, but are a good read for those who have never taken an actual SAT. The second half is the best though. These are 10 SATs, just like the title says. They remove the section that is used for surveying and include the answer key and grading scale. If you have only taken the PSAT you have to practice these, the SAT is MUCH MUCH harder. If you have taken the SAT, I recommend taking the tests as practice (my score improved each time). If you don't have the time to sit down and take a full practice at least comb through and identify useful vocab or practice your weak sections. This thing is the best.
Rating: Summary: Not the best Review: While the idea of ten real SATs is great, the first few chapters trying to help people improve their scores is a waste. The methods they use are horribly compared to the ones in Princeton Review's books. What it boils down to is this: if you need to improve your score, then get Princeton Review's Math and Verbal Workouts. If, instead, you just want to brush up and get comfortable with the test, then buy this. Take it from someone who has a best combined score of 1410.
Rating: Summary: PSAT Prep Course HS Student Review: This book is a brilliant addition to a PSAT/SAT Prep Course! IT contains 10 back-to-back SAT tests! The only problem is, very little of it is review, help, etc. 75% of it is the tests! It's helpful, all right, but I would reccomend that you also get a book that has more review in it, too. The best way to study ffor the SAT/PSAT is 1-2 hours a night at the max.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Book Review: I highly recommend this book. The reason I gave it a four star is because the tips are horrible. The best study guide would be the Barron's 21st edition. I am only 12 doing that talented search stuff. The first time I took the test I got a horrible score. Later my score raised by 320 points because of this and Barron's.
