Rating: Summary: Nice but I would have rather had book 5 Review: The companion book to me was a disappointment. Much of the information that was in this book is available on Diana's web site. I would much rather have had Diane release book 5 and 6 before getting this published. (You then really could have a companion to the series) I do enjoy Diane's books but after reading this campanion book, I feel that as a fan as I was taken for advantage by buying this book.(Some balm to sooth my cravings but it ISN'T enough!) In spite of this I am waiting most anxiously for the next books and am looking forward to the hope that Diana will give us a "presequal" too!!
Rating: Summary: YET ANOTHER WONDERFUL PUBLICATION FROM DIANA GABALDON! Review: Although this book should be read after having "experienced" the first four books of the Outlander series, it is a fine publication on its own. In it, readers can find a variety of information concerning Celtic legend, herbals, genealogy, and tips on writing. A must-have for all current and future (!) Gabaldon fans...
Rating: Summary: WHAT A GEM Review: It us drawings and some pictures of the places in the books. I gives us detailed outlines off all the books so far, so we don't have to reread them if we don't want to. And she gives us a sneak peek at her new book!!!! What fun.
Rating: Summary: excessive Review: I have enjoyed all of Mrs. Gabaldon's novels (perhaps I should be honest and say that the last one was a bit of a disappointment, but still generally quite good), and I do very much admire her style of writing. But I'm afraid I don't understand the frenzy around this book. Astrological charts for fictional characters seems rather redundant to me, for example. In fact, I am rather disturbed by the tone of the other reviews. Little to do with constructive commentary and more to do with group hysteria, it seems. I would have prefered Mrs. Gabaldon to write another novel, rather than spend her time on this rather strange documentation for people who are, after all, products of her imagination.
Rating: Summary: Gabaldon Delivers Again Review: As in all of her previous works, Gabaldon delivers. For any die-hard fan, this book answers questions, thoughts, and possible assumptions. It also gives amusing anecdotes and facts to help readers further understand and enojoy the first four books. I just can't wait for the next book to come out!
Rating: Summary: SIMPLY THE BEST! Review: I have never read any books so interesting and intriguing as these. I actually feel like I'm going through withdrawls, when I don't get to read everyday. I just happen to finish the last book, and it took me about two weeks to finish the last 4 or 5 chapters, only because I didn't want it to end. I love the way Diana writes, she has a way of making you feel like you are experiencing what Jamie and Claire are experiencing. Like you are actually there and feeling the emotion of their trials and tribulations. I can't wait for the other books to come out. I have already told my family that I will be MIA (missing in action) for the first couple of days after I get the book, so that I can read without ANY interuptions!
Rating: Summary: Excellent companion to the series Review: The perfect thing to whet your appetite for the next book in the series! I enjoyed the illustrations and the detailed explanations of plot points. Unfortunately, Ms. Gabaldon still didn't answer the one burning question I have---was Claire celibate for the 20 years between Brianna's birth and her return through the stones? Maybe that'll be addressed later. Anyway, obviously a labor of love and well worth the price, since it will provide hours of enjoyment to fans.
Rating: Summary: Positively incredible, love this Author's sense of humour!! Review: Diana has given us the gift of her tremendous humour and wit in this Companion! Her personality shines beautifully in this book, as do her wonderful cast of characters! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART DIANA!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC!!! Review: Diana is a fabulous writer and storyteller!! We asked for this book and she gave it to us. Finally we get the answers to many questions and the information that helps fill in the blanks. Jamie and Claire may not exist in our "reality" but they are very much alive in the hearts of the many fans of Diana Gabaldon. Not only do I love this book, but I love the Outlander series, and look greedily forward to the rest of the story. I hope there is a second Companion, because after reading the next few novels about Jamie and Claire Fraser, I'm sure I will have many more questions waiting to be answered. Thanks Diana!
Rating: Summary: I agree. These books should be featured on Oprah! Review: Just imagine how many more addicts would be created. I agree that we should swamp Oprah's email with recommendations for the Outlandish series. I don't know her email address, however. Can anyone help me out? I'll be keeping an eye on these reviews as I read the Companion.
