Rating: Summary: awesome,but i wish there were picture for each stone Review: i loved reading about all the different gems and metals in this book,however when i went to buy some rocks and when i wanted to look up there meaning i couldnt. because well i forgot the name and without the pictures it was hard to know which description i was looking for,however this is a really excellent book otherwise.
Rating: Summary: Good Color Photos of Rocks and interesting Folk Lore. Review: I purchased this book after seeing it as a reference book at one on my favorite Bead shops. I found the color illustration to be rather good and found the descriptions of the meaning of the stones to be interesting. It gives metaphysical description as well as a literal one. I would recommend this book since I own two copies of it. One for my home and one for my Dorm room. This book can be enjoyed by all age groups.
Rating: Summary: I highly recommend this book! Review: I questioned myself when I first purchased this book, but now I know that I was destined to have it. Ever since I added it to my personal library, I have had to use it several time per week, always having to look up information for fellow wiccan friends on what materials to make their jewelry out of for protection, enlightenment, love attraction, or just guidance. The great part about it was that it gives a description of each crystal or metal, along with astrological, magical, and which deity it connects to. Even better, with many of the entries it gives examples of uses in spells. This is definitely a must have for anyone who is a serious earth-based wiccan.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic book. Review: I read this book cover to cover and I learned virtually everything I could ever hope to know on the magic of stones and metals. It is an excelent beginner's guide or expert's reference. Very highly recommended (Along with anything by Scott Cunningham).
Rating: Summary: excellent resource Review: I really loved this book; I am really interested in crystal properties, and it states things plainly and easily. I use it constantly to check on certain stones, especially when an inexperienced friend calls on me as an expert! The only problems I have are that I'd have liked more specific spells listed, and more pictures for identifying stones. But all in all, a great book.
Rating: Summary: Limited in its usefulness Review: I wish this book had better documented its sources. A lot of the material was very limited in its usefulness. I bought this and used it maybe three times. It is gathering dust.There is NOTHING patently WRONG with the book, it's just not very useful or engaging. Cunningham did much better work.
Rating: Summary: Great book on gems and metal magic Review: If you are looking for a book on gem and metal magic this is one of most refered to and one of best i have seen printed and is great for any pagan or wicca libary Blessed Be;
Rating: Summary: Add this book to your magickal bookshelf now! Review: If you get only one book on gems/crystals/metals and thier magickal correspondences, buy this book! I refer to this book almost daily; it has a brief history of each stone alphabetically, their magickal uses/correspondences and even color pictures of the different stones. A very complete guide that is good for any magickal use, written in the wonderful style of Scott Cunningham.
Rating: Summary: Good for Basic Knowledge Review: If you want to delve into the world of Gems, Crystals and Metal, this is ok, but not complete. I had one item in particular that I was looking for and it was not found in the book, I would have to say, look for a more complete book.
Rating: Summary: Easy enjoyable read Review: My first exposure to Scott Cunningham. Found the book very easy and enjoyable to read. I was able to read it in one sitting. He provides a great deal of information and presents it in a clear and easy to understand way. This book would make an excellent reference tool and I recommend it for anyone seeking such a resource. The only downer was (to me) the excess of "money making" spells, delivering a message the average wiccan is a very financially challanged or money centric individual. I would like to imagine there are more graceful things we can apply energy to than making money.
