Rating: Summary: One of the Best of Its kind! Review: Like an earlier reviewer, this book was my introduction to Magick. And Like another earlier reviewer, if you buy this book, you will be replacing it in few years (from excessive use).I've heard a lot of criticism of Scott Cunningham's overall work as promoting a brand of "fluffy-bunny" wicca and such, however, this book, by far is his greatest contribution to magickal literature anywhere. It full of well researched folklore for literally hundreds of plants and herbs. It is an essential text for any of those "do-it-yourself" kinds of witches that love to create their own rituals and spells. If you study magick and witchcraft and don't own this book, you must buy it now!
Rating: Summary: Very informative Review: Full of lore and useful information, this book is a must-have for anyone interested in using herbs.
Rating: Summary: Great resource! Review: This book was my introduction to magic, and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for it. This is a book I return to when I'm planning any spell (I'm into herbs; could you tell?) and it never stays on my shelf for too long! I have used this book, spilled things on it, replaced it when I thought it was lost, given it to a raffle, lent it out, recommended it... For any who either enjoy reading about historical/folklore uses of herbs or who want to incorporate herbs into their spell systems.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book ! Review: I have just started practicing magick, and this book is really great. One of my best friends also practices magick, and he loves this book. Every time he comes over we look at my book and we are amazed about how much we didn't know about magickal herbs. Great for anybody who loves magick and gardening. It would be nice to have the pictures in color though.
Rating: Summary: Do Not Buy This Book Review: This book will only come apart in your hands after using it over and over and over and over again. Now, if only it were published in HARD BACK, we would be better off. As is, buy it now, but you'll only wind up replacing it in a few years. It is an excelent resource for any magic user. I also strongly recomend Cunninghams "Magic in Food" and "Aromatherapy."
Rating: Summary: This book is incredible! Cunningham is the best! BUY IT! Review: This book is perfect for those who like lists, pictures, instructions, and organized information. Cunningham presents the facts for each herb in a concise and organized fashion, and most of the herbs are sketched out in the right hand margin. Cunningham guides us through magic herbalism with sincerity and profound knowledge of the subject while never ceasing to amaze and impress the reader. The end of the book contains an index which lists the page numbers for each herb as well as ailments. For example, if you have a headache, look up "headache" and refer to those page numbers. This prevents the reader from looking through ALL the herbs' uses to find how to cure a headache. Cunningham is truly amazing. The fact that he is no longer here is certainly upsetting. BUY THIS BOOK if you love pictures, charts, lists, and genuine advice for the utilization of magical herbs.
