Review: This book - a pamphlet really - is hardly worth a dollar, let alone (Money). The information contained within is nothing more than vague generalities. While it purports to be a how-to guide, it leaves out details. For example, in the self-publishing section, the book advises getting ISBN numbers for your book, but does not say exactly how to go about doing this.The suggestions in this book appear similar to those a high school - or junior high - English teacher might give on handouts to a class. I'd return the book, but after paying return shipping I probably wouldn't get anything back. My advice is to find another book on this topic. I know I will have to do so.

Summary: a very good picture
Review: This book gives a very good picture of how to sell and promote stories for children. There are some basic points about writing that are good to review often. The focus is on writing for children, the different kinds of stories for children, and most of all where and how to sell it. I've read lots of books about writing and selling but I especially like to keep this one handy to be sure I'm not overlooking something important. I was in a class where this was used as a text. It gave us time to learn and to critique each other's stories. I recommend it for classes and for writer's groups. It has a lot of resources you can find on the internet, books you can read, and convenient addresses like the copyright office and where to get a set of ISBN's.

Review: This book helped me get published as it made me realize some mistakes I was making about finding the right audience for my writing. There are so many areas. Some have more competition than others. This gives some information about several different types of writing and lots of places to get more information online and in other books. The author's website shows that she has published 9 books now and the 10th one is coming out soon. The book is a basic guide so readers shouldn't expect it to be an extensive resource. I needed this guide to help me find the right direction and review my skills.

Review: This little book has already saved me a lot of money. I'm working on self-publishing a children's book. It helped me revise the book and it helped me to find out how to avoid some big mistakes in getting it printed. So many books about self-publishing don't really say anything about how to write children's books and how to market them.

Review: This little book is the only guide I've found about self-publishing children's books. (It also provides great info for traditional publishing, too.) Children's books are written, sold and promoted much differently than other genres. This book might be small, but there's a lot of meat here--it covers the important aspects of publishing children's books, and its suggestions will help writers along the road to success.
