Rating: Summary: This is an old edition! Review: This is an old edition--the new edition of the MH Illustrated Telecom Dictionary was published in March 2000, is much expanded, and features a CD-ROM.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: This is the best telecom reference I have seen so far - I wish I would have found this one first. Everyone is always borrowing it in my office - GET YOUR OWN COPY!!!
Rating: Summary: It should have 6 stars! Review: This reference package is just what I needed, It covers virtualy everything in telecom, data and voice, and provides the answers to the questions I ask myself the most - what does this do? where is it used? and what does it look like? It puts everything into a nice neatly wrapped perspective. Especially the deeper references provided by McGraw Hill on the CDROM. I am very impressed, very pleased, and very happy with this telecom dictionary more than all others I have had combined. It is the best compilation I have seen including those provided by Cisco, Newtons, and Prentice Hall. I will be looking for the 3rd edition of this book/CDROM for sure.
Rating: Summary: Telephony ABCs Review: When I first reviewed the McGraw-Hill Illustrated Telecom dictionary I thought it was a great find, I even recommended it to students in my TrainingCity.com Voice & Data training classes. Not anymore. The more I read it the more errors and incorrect information I find. For example a table in the book identifies OC3 - OC48 as having the same bit/sec rate! Conclusion, the CD-ROM is nice, but I recommend you avoid this book and buy Newton's Telecom Dictionary.
