Review: I have always avoided public speaking due to severe panic attacks - to the point where it was negatively impacting my career. I finally resolved to do something about it. I bought 6-7 books on the subject; the only one that really spoke to me was Janet's In the Spotlight. I had a big speach upcoming and was petrified. I diligently read and applied the techniques in Janet's books - I normally would have been petrified, but the big day came and I was able to "manage" thanks to her toolkit! (Actually, I did better than "manage" - I was successful!) My next step was to take her workshop - which I strongly recommend!! If you have serious fear about public speaking, if it is impacting your life or your career, if you are into avoidance to your detriment, RUN, don't walk, to buy this book. (Well, OK, TYPE into your browser and buy this book NOW!!)

Just reading it brings relief because she relates to pain since she has experienced it herself.
I highly recommmend this book!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: the CD is great, too! Review: I have owned and enjoyed this book for a couple of years, and was thrilled to find that the author has just produced a related CD. The CD is highly recommended for anyone dealing with performance issues. A wide variety of positive messages is expressed in every track, backed up with soothing music. Peaceful, comforting relaxation exercises are combined with more upbeat affirmations for a very comprehensive approach to this problem. The subject is given a very thorough treatment - even the fear of fear iself is dealt with in depth. This CD is certainly a wonderful tool, and will make it easier stay calm, focused, and grounded when approaching an event,,,much better conditions for creative thought and planning.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: One of the best books on speaking anxiety Review: I have read several book on overcoming speaking anxiety and public speaking and have found this book to be one written from someone who walks their talk. Someone who has has experience and knows where people are coming from. This book along with the book, "10 Days to More Confident Public Speaking", written by Lenny Laskowski are the two best books I have found on this topic. And just think, these two authors are both from Connecticut.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Severe Fear, or even Mild Fear? You NEED this book! Review: I was searching for information concerning the Fear of Speaking. Most of the material I found was great, but did not address exactly what I was searching for: Why I have such a fear; Why I let such a fear "hold me hostage(literally)" when I speak small group, classroom or a large audience; and the most important, Is there something I could do so that I will be able speak publicly without this fear? These (and more) questions are answered in this great book. What makes this book great is that the author suffered from this same fear, and tells what she did to successfully overcome her fear. Now she spends every day of her life sharing that information with others so they too can overcome this fear. This is an "action" book. Don't just read it for entertainment...that would really be a great loss. Read it, and they do the recommended exercises or "Action Steps," for it to be effective. The old cliche': "You only get out of it what you put into it, " is never more true than with this book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Written by someone who truly knows! Review: I've read a number of books on the subject of the fear of public speaking but not one of them even came close to the issue until I read Janet's book. Most authors simply say that you need to "be prepared" and this is enough to get you through a speaking situation. This is absolutely not true as a true fear of public speaking goes much deeper than that. Even when speaking about a subject that they know cold (e.g. about themselves), people with this fear would rather die on the spot than have to go through a speaking situation. Janet knows all about this as she suffers with the same phobia as you. Her book will have you nodding your head in agreement as she nails each topic. Most importantly, her education and training when combined with her first hand experience with the subject makes her the perfect person to help you deal with your problem. In addition to reading her book, I also attended her Level I seminar last year and I encourage others to do the same. Further, I re-joined Toastmasters International and am going to attend Janet's Refresher seminar in July. If public speaking is a fear in yor life, do yourself a favor and purchase this book. It will truly change your life!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: This is the book you want Review: If you are buying a book on this topic. This is by far the most practical guide out there, and it is written in a very personal and informal style which suits the topic very well. I am currently testing out the techniques -actually volunteering to speaking appointments to test it out.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW! A practical book that we can all relate too! Review: If you really want to understand what drives our fears of public speaking and how we can overcome these fears, this book is a must read. It is written in a very practical, easy to understand way. And best of all, it comes from someone who has been there and can relate to everything we go through.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: finally... Review: Its always amazed me that there are so few good books on something so many people fear...Ms. Esposito refrains from the simplistic how-to Toastmaster(r) approach that just doesn't work for many people. This is a book that goes to the core of self-esteem issues that underlie speaking fear for some of us. Ms. Esposito shares her own doubts and experiences and explains the underlying issues very well. It is personably written and sincere in a refreshing way that many self-help books are not.
