Summary: GOOD ADVICE, BUT NOTHING NEW!
Review: The content contained good advice so I will give the author credit for that; however, I found much of the material to be little more than good old-fashion common sense with a few "cliches" thrown in for good measure. Little of the material was so new or sensational that most of us have not heard or read it before in similar self-help books. It is standard advice I have been advocating in my classes for years. "Learning to live in the present" and "living each day as if it were your last," is, without question, sound advice. However, statements of this nature, and many others found here, are so "old hat" they could be considered redundant. There are certainly other quality books in existence which I would recommend before this material.

Summary: Wow! Surprisingly good!
Review: After reading some longer books like The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and First Things First, I expected this book to be a lightweight popular psychology with some worthwhile platitudes and witty observations, but nothing major. I was pleasantly surprised!

This book is really well-written. I will be reading it more than once. I found some powerful and lifechanging new perspectives and it is already helping me to be a calmer, happier person. While a few of the points it made paraphrased concepts from other wisdom literature (like the Seven Habits), those points are still true and the author shed new insight on them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who tends to be made overly anxious by everyday circumstances, or who simply wants to become better at "living in the moment."

Summary: Reinforcement of what we already know.
Review: Richard Carlson is a great reader of his book. This simple, easy listening audio book is filled with advice on modifying our behavior. There is no step by step instruction on how to change ones behavior on this audio book. Mr Carlson simply states what we can do to focus on healthier habits to decrease some of the stress in our lives. Many of the information we already know or think about at some point in our lives. For example, we all know that at times it's best to mind our own business and not always jump to give others advice. However, sometimes we are so anxious to offer our opinion without being asked. Mr Carlson will explain why sometimes it's best to say nothing. I do recommend this audio book (Paperback or Hardcover).

Summary: ...we all have bad habits
Review: And one of mine is worrying - much like most women. I find reading one section (most are only a page or two) every day or two allows me time to really reflect on each... and doesnt take much time.

You'll begin to realize all the things you do and worry about that really - ARENT A BIG DEAL. It's a great stress management aid and something I think everyone needs pointed out to them from time to time. After all, life is too short to worry.

Summary: Powerful and enduring advice!
Review: I have great respect for Dr. Carlson. This is a great book! I love the simple, easy advice he gives. The short 1-3 page mini-chapters are bite-size doses of great advice. For me I read one or two of these a day and it makes a big positive impression. It really is about living a life with more ease and more in the present. Don't sweat the small stuff: don't worry about the future or get caught up in regrets about the past. Many reviewers seem to criticize the simplicity of the book. But I think that simplicity is actually part of its beauty and its power. Thanks again Dr. Carlson for a lasting treasure.

Another fantastic book about how to live in the present moment is "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" by Ariel and Shya Kane. I highly recommend this book as a companion book to "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff."

Summary: Makes Life Easier
Review: This is a book that I would wish to possess with me allll the time and follow every word/chapter in it, to make life more easier, meaningful, happier and better to ourself and the people around us. It explains great philosphies in simple words that facilitates us following it with no difficulties. And when we are able to practise what it tells and feel contented with the outcome, what more success could be there for a book ?!!!

Summary: Best-seller because of the TITLE?
Review: Japanese edition of this book was published about 2 years ago, and more than 2 million copies were sold in Japan.

When I read this book, first I thought that as many of 100 original, common, and no brand-new themes are included. Just like "Listen completely until they finish," "Relax," and "Don't sweat the small stuff."

I think this book became popular not because what it contains, but because of the title, which would give serious attentions to recent people who are stressful for whatever reasons. "Instead of asking helps to their close friends or clinical psychologists, people want to get a warm care, be cheered up, and want to be active for tomorrow." People who think like this may bought this book.

My opinion is; if you feel like you are stressful and you forget about something basic, I'll recommend this book. If you feel like you already know something original and common, I'll recommend to save your money.

Summary: Enjoyable!!!!
Review: I found this book to be thoroughly enjoyable and fun to read. Mr. Carlson shows how simple life can be, if you "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff." This book helped point out that when I find myself "sweating,"I am most likely resisting something in my life, either events or people, and when I stop resisting, my life "cools down" and gets alot easier.

Another book I've recently read that I found very enjoyable is called "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel & Shya Kane. This book is easy to read, humorous and has had a huge impact on my life.

Summary: Bravo!!!
Review: This book is AWESOME. Not only does it inspire Christian values, but also I've only gotten through 8 chapters and already have found incredibly insightful advice and anecdotes that are so true to everyday life--especially mine. This book truly allows us to take an unadulterated look at our "faults", take a personal inventory of what we could/should change-and CHANGE them, thus making us happier, more productive people.

Summary: Good Everyday Pick-Me-Up
Review: Our band teacher reads one passage from this wonderful inspirational book every day during class, and everyone seems to have a better mood and cooperate wonderfully. It's amazing how much a short little paragraph or two can help one or more in a group of people perk up. This is a highly recommended book.
