Rating: Summary: Powerful & True: "Don't Sweat..." Does The Trick Review: After breaking up with someone that I was dating for a long time, I broke down and began to worry about everything...and anything. Why I did, I don't know. Nonetheless, everything was looked at as if it were under a microscope. I found myself worrying about things that just didn't need to be worried about at all in the first place. As it turned out, someone close to me gave me this book as a Christmas gift and I simply couldn't put it down. It is filled with helpful hints and suggestions that are true-to-life and powerful; once you understand how to use some of Carlson's tips. "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff..." does the trick. Truly insightful and helpful, it's a MUST read and I highly recommend it for everyone.
Rating: Summary: An overall pretty good read. Review: This book has helped me ease back with alot of things and I think this book is pretty good overall but there are a few things in the book that I just don't agree with such as when the author states don't ask why this person is doing this ask what is this person trying to teach me? How can I apply this to the person who stops dead on the road and makes a turn with no signals? Is this person trying to teach me to use turn signals?? This part confused me. Also, once I read about half the book I kinda got an impression of if you did all things things that the author suggested that you are being a pushover and letting people walk over you. He is right about alot of things though and I am glad I bought it and read it. These are topics that we should already know but it is nice to have them in writing all together.
Rating: Summary: A real life changer Review: This bok, while just reiterating what one should already know, explains things in such simple and useful terms that you cannot help but feel better about yourself and improve your outlook
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Read... Review: The book keeps life in realistic perspective. Yet, on the other hand, there are times when one s h o u l d sweat the small stuff.
Rating: Summary: brilliant explanition of how to not get tied down in trivia Review: Splendid piece of work. Jolly good show. Would like to see more new work from the author. Keep the books rolling mark
Rating: Summary: Great book, and that's all there is here. Review: This is a magnificent awe-inspiring of a realization for a book. From reading it I realized what a gem it is and it is quite easy to see what type of people are out there by reading these reviews. It's a given there are a lot of lost souls.
Rating: Summary: Easy-to-read summary of stuff you've heard before Review: None of the stuff was new to me, but it was nice to have it all summarized. A little talky, but it did the job. I find its immense popularity, however, a bit of a mystery. I find appalling that this author who promotes "more is not better" and other such stuff is planning on writing a guide to financial success. Isn't that a bit hypocritical?
Rating: Summary: Highly Recommendation Review: This book quickly became a favorite within my large spiritual/self-development library. I use it both a useful tool for daily reflection, as well as a "reference" book to consult during a frustrating situation - it always serves as a great reminder of why and how to not "sweat the small stuff" so that one can enjoy the more important things in life.
Rating: Summary: If you remember what your parents taught you, don't need it Review: The book is simple to read but a lot of the suggestions are unpractical for the average people struggling to meet ends. The suggestions that are actually useful and wise, are actually the ones that you probably got from your parents or grandparents, so you really do need this book. Besides, it promotes a general attitude not only toward small stuff but about life in general that I find reproachable and dangerous. What if people fighting hitler stopped and started seeing the fuhrer as an innocent infant or a 100 years old men? Also, big stuff is made of small stuff! Things snowball. A society works based on some premises. If you let people cut in your line and do not question it because it is "smal stuff", you are sending the wrong message to everyone including your children that prevarication pays off. This attitude will evolve into bigger and bigger stuff. Most of the time it is better to be right than to be kind. You might have more stress, but you do society good!
