Rating: Summary: Great Resources for the Office... Review: I manage a team of customer service representatives who supports all aspects of the business. When a new team was formed due to sudden high turnover, we ran into communication issues. This book helped us overcome them, and provided a format to allow for safer communications with all of our internal customers as well.It's funny, a fast read, applicable today, and relevant in all aspects of life. As a manager, I refer to it often, and I keep it on my desk for anyone to pick up! I recommend it as a staple in any office setting.
Rating: Summary: Nothing new for me here Review: I picked up this book because it was endorsed by Dr. Stephen Covey, author the "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." After I read the vignettes and tips on communicating through difficult situations, I asked myself "What did I learn here?" My answer was "Nothing!" Three months ago, I read another book Dr. Covey endorsed called "Optimal Thinking--How to Be Your Best Self by Dr. Rosalene Glickman, which I found to be far superior. Optimal Thinking shows the reader how to optimize oneself and then, how to optimize others. The reader is provided with specific, simple roadmaps which can be used to optimize every situation.
Rating: Summary: highly recommended Review: I read Crucial Conversations a few weeks ago, and just finished with Difficult Conversations by Stone, et al. Both seem to present many of the same concepts, elaborating, in a sense, on the theme 'Seek first to understand, then to be understood' from Covey's Seven Habits book. All in all, I much prefer Crucial Conversations. To my mind, it is much more concise and readable, and the concepts are therefore easier to grasp and to implement. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: It is the worst book I have ever owned. Review: I read the reviews at Amazon.com before buy any book. Usually, I have pretty good luck if the general review comments are positive. But this time around. I was cheated. The worst thing I dislike is that it streches an one page contents into five or ten pages. If you want to read something about interpersonal communications, I suggest you to check out Dale Carnegie's master pieces. This book is a waste of your money and time in my opinion. Good luck.

Earlier today our committee of educators came up with a new program to replace a set of undefined steps that had us three months in arrears in our caseload. The unanimous and accepted consensus, I believe, only came about from applying the ideas in Crucial Conversations. Those that had disagreed with the new program did behave badly, but this did not side track the process. Applying the authors advice of keeping focused on what I want enabled me to avoid being sucked in. I offer one snippet the books ideals. They say, If you behaved badly apologize but if your intentions have been misunderstood don't apologize do a clarifying "don't/do" statement: "Don't think I mean this awful thing you have been thinking. Do realize that I mean this." They indicate that such statements are just the beginning of repairing what they call safety. This repair was crucial to obtaining today's agreement. Try it!

Rating: Summary: Customer Service Review: I think this books is a very goog book, however, I suggest you not to buy anything directly from their web site. It seems they are starting to sell through the web, and do not have a good service, logistics and policies in case of troubles
Rating: Summary: Very basic common sense! Review: I was lead to believe there would be some ground beaking information in this book but it's really just common sense. I think everyone knows, when they're thinking straight, that just being true to yourself, honest, and respectfull of other people while holding to your point of view is the only way to truly get things done. And this is basically all this book says.
