Summary: needs updating
Review: a lot of stuffs happened since 95. shadows of the empire, an awsome book, introduced lots of new characters.there are a few more too. the problem is, the star wars gallaxy is ALWAYS EXPANDING

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Don't know who Bossk is? Admiral Thrawn? Buy the book!
Review: A must have for beginner Star Wars Fans. Those people who have been caught up in the Special Edition and want to be big fans but don't know their character profiles should get this book. All the droids, all the Bounty Hunters, all the Imperials, all the Rebels - EVERYTHING. Even veteran Star Wars Fans should buy this book. It also has some great pics and artwork

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Needs a Little Updating
Review: A very good book and fairly complete guide of the characters it has, but it is missing a few biggies, such as Zorba the Hutt. Also, for some reason it has Lak Sivrak but not Dice Ibegon, which are an almost inseparable pair, at least in terms of character descriptions. And also, I believe that if there is a reference to a character in another character's description, that character should be in the book. And lastly, as was said in another customer comment, a lot of Star Wars books have been written since 1995, making this guide seem not so complete because it doesn't have the now familiar characters Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, and Guri. A good solution would be making an updated sequal to this book.

Summary: A Must have for true Jedi
Review: Andy Mangels has done a wonderful job of compiling the complex events and characters in the Star Wars universe. This is the book to get if you want to keep 'in the know', but don't have time to read all the individual novels. Even the smallest characters are described in great detail, from Mara Jade to Momaw Nadon. I would strongly recommend this one to any fellow Star Wars fan. May the Force be with you!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Who is Mara Jade? What does Zuckuss do for a living?
Review: Do you know? If you don't, get this book now. This book has extremely (sometimes too) detailed biographies of Characters. But, it includes some really minor characters, and leaves out some, like Chief Chirpa and Bail Organa. Sometimes it has stuff that has nothing to do with the character and quotes from the movies or books. Also, it needs to be updated

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: One Word: OBSOLETE
Review: Don't commit the same mistake I did by buying this book if you already own the Essential Chronology or the Essential Guide to Alien Species.

This book needs an URGENT update, there are no refences for Corran Horn nor Kyle Katarn even if this last one had appeared BEFORE the book's publishing.

The illustrations are equally obsolete: Borsk Fey'Lya is portrayed with the "dwarfish" look the bothans had in previous comics (even the book has illustrations of Thrawn taken from the comic adaptation of Heir to the Empire in which the bothans have the modern goat face they exhibit in the Guide for Alien Species!)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Force - ful to the MAX
