Unfortunately it's just not as interesting as the Watchers Guide, but I did learn a few new things from this book. If you have the time, or money go ahead and pick up this book. It passes the time.

Summary: Long book, but rather dissapointing
Review: I got this book yesterday, it was well written and everything, but I was dissapointed from thhe long seciton of pages used for the episode guide, but no behind the scenes or making of things like the past two Buffy watchers guides had, and they should have had more on the actor profiles.

Summary: Very, Very Good!
Review: I had a really good time going through this book. Lots of interesting tidbits and behind the scenes info. Loved all the pictures. If you're a fan of the show, you'll more than likely enjoy this.

Summary: An entertaining read for Angel fans
Review: I have to admit that I was a late bloomer when it came to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (didn't get into the show until the last couple of seasons), but I didn't make that same mistake when Buffy's vampire boyfriend Angel got his own series. I personally love the first two seasons. "Angel: The Case Files volume 1" pretty much covers the first two seasons. Nancy Holden, Maryelizabeth Hart, and Jeff Mariotte does an excellent job of providing general synopsis of each episode in seasons 1 and 2 as well as giving the reader behind the scenes details. I especially loved reading comments from the actors themselves, especially my two favorite guest stars Juliet Landau (Druscilla) and Julie Benz (Darla). I also love the color and black&white photos of the actors getting ready for the show. As an "Angel" fan, I thought this book was a great companion piece. Very informative and entertaining.

Summary: Comprehensive Episode Guide
Review: The equivalent of the Watcher's Guides has come out for Angel and how does it stack up? Casefiles is much more well organized than the Watcher's Guides, while at the same time it is more streamlined.

Unlike the Watcher's Guides, the Casefiles is basically only 2 sections: a character guide and bio, and an episode guide. There are actor bios in the back, but they are small and seem somewhat unimportant.

While it, like the Watcher's Guides, includes interviews with the cast and crew, it includes the relevant portions of each interview with the episode it relates to. This means that the interviews no longer go quite in depth about the general process of making an Angel episode, and instead focus on the difficulty in making each episode.

The episode guide, however, goes in far greater depth than in the Watcher's Guide, often devoting 2 to 3 pages to each episode description. Like the Watcher's Guide, it also includes a few interesting facts about each episode.

The character bios, also like the Watcher's Guide, are simply recaps of what that character has been through. While nice to read, if you've seen the episodes, they don't provide any new information.

If you're interested in a lot of behind the scene information about the show, this probably isn't your book. It does have some, but by and large it is simply an expanded and comprehensive episode guide of the first two seasons. This doesn't mean that it isn't worthwhile. Any Angel fan who wishes to relive memories of the uneven first season and interesting second season will relish this guide.

Summary: Excellent reference for Angel Seasons 1 & 2
Review: This is the must-have reference book for Angel fans, on a par with the Buffy Watcher's Guides. Every episode is covered, with comprehensive plot summaries, quotes, edited scenes, technical details, cast lists. All of the major characters and the actors who play them are profiled, and there are numerous pictures, many in color. A few small mistakes can be found, however. For example, in the section on Lindsey, one of the episodes he appeared in was omitted. However, it can be invaluable for answering all those questions fans, both serious and casual, may ask. I highly recommend this book.
