Summary: Not very good, in fact downright inaccurate!
Review: I am Luther V. Sandtagidor, aka Sasquatch. While it is true I am very elusive and make myself visible only when I wish to, there is no truth to the fact that I come from or reside in the Pacific NorthWest. How rude. I currently reside in Milwaukee, WI and am a huge Beavers fan. I am not a Packers fan and the Brewers brand of baseball is best left to little children. I took particular offense to the fact that this book states that I eat acorns and tadpoles. My goodness! Yes, I've eaten a chestnut here and there and perhaps had frog legs but in no way haveI ever, repeat, EVER eaten a tadpole. Golly! I am currently looking for a single woman under 30 for fun and love. Please be a brunette and I am open minded to any race, heck its been 7643 years so I can't be too picky!

Please note that my feet are somewhat big and I feel really outcast when people refer to me as BIG FOOT. Heck a lady down the hall has a huge butt but I don't call her Largeass! So please lets be sensitive!

Summary: An entertaining read
Review: I found this book to be an enjoyable read, however, if you are looking for serious research and a serious approach to the topics, this book will not do.

Summary: super strong monsters
Review: I liked this book really much because it talked about some monsters that i never even heard about before like the giant gator twice the size of the ancient phobosuchus crocodile which can grow up to a length of 100 feet long that is unbelievable and the megalodon the giant shark thought to be extinct from millions of years and people have actually seen the shark up close I have read about giant sharks reaching up to 100 feet long or even bigger. I have read about monsters that I never had a clue that existed thgouhtout this whole entire world. i hope that they will make south american monsters for a book like this book called north american monsters I will want to know about more kinds of monsters that have existed or been dicovered in the past legends. I really wish that we could study them closely we always think that these creatures will attack if you come up to close to them. Anways I think that this book is really amazing if you are a monster fac you will want to get this book and read it over and over. I have read about how some monsters that are hairy humanoids that have the strength to rip open steel doors on thier hinges. This book features all kinds of monsters of all shapes and sizes

Summary: pretty silly
Review: If you want to learn about crptozoology and look for the truth then this is not for you. While it had some pretty good photos and some ok story's.There was A lot of really stupid stuff like the little section of the likelihood of encountering one of these creatures. And some of the so called monsters like the boogey man,I mean please can't the author take things A little more serios.

Summary: A fun and imaginative story.
Review: In this book you can venture into the weird and unknown. It is fun to find out about zany mosters like the sand squink or rubberdaroo. This book tells many interesting facts, like what Bigfoot likes to read. Overall it was a really good book.

Summary: Cheap shot!
Review: It's simple and cheap. They should make it more better than this. I do except to see various colorful pictures, photos of all kinds. This is not ideal for true cryptrozoology! I rather book entitled "all about Monsters" and "Mystery Creatures" over this.

Summary: Engaging and thoroughly executed.
Review: Mr. Blackman's handling of his subject matter is precise and affectionate. Without the ostentation of a pseudo-scientific account, he manages the delicate balance between fiction and real possibility with candor and lively interest.

It's a book I imagine would appeal to a wide range of readers, including me -- a woman with only marginal knowledge or former interest in these topics. This is partly due to Blackman's fluid and engaging writing style. More than that, though, I found that my own curiosities about the difference between myth and reality mirrored in his explanations of everything from proof that the creature might exist to plausible explanations for its mythological creation.

In the end, I came away with an unexpected conviction that some of these guys must exist in some form (something I've never believed at all before) as well as a respect for the well-established place of the mythological creature in our cultural imagination.

I recommend it as a gift for particularly creative and imaginative readers.

Summary: An entertaining look at American "monsters."
Review: Much of the criticism surrounding this book centers on the fact that it is not "serious." One only has to look at the cover to realize that this is a tongue-in-cheek look at various monster legends in the U.S. In many ways, the book is a parody of other field guides - only this one is a field guide about monsters. I suspect that some other readers were offended because one interpretation of the book's intent is that it is poking fun at those on the fringes of cryptozoology.

I found the book to be entertaining. The book contains a mixture of information that some cryptologists would consider factual along with the author's own embellishments. It covers most of the monster legends in the U.S. and there were quite a few of them that I was unaware of.

There are many illustrations. Some of them were well done although a few looked like a grade school kid drew them. The book has an abridged bibliography and a glossary although there is no index. It also lists each states in the U.S. and describes which monsters are reported to live there.

If you enjoy reading about American folklore and urban legends then you will probably enjoy this book. If you spend your nights roaming around with a flashlight looking for Chupacabra then this book will probably annoy you.

Summary: I'd rather read junk mail
Review: Not only is this book a piece of trash it's also inaccurate.I believe he made most of it up and I think he writes all of his reviews. This book is inappropriate for everyone walking god's green earth. The guy believes every word of this book ,even the stuff that he made up.If anyone reads this book approach with caution & don't have an annuerism while reading this book that's not even suitable for the bathroom. Thus I can not and will not reccomend this book to anyone who has a brain.Thank you for your time.

Summary: Was He Serious?
Review: On the outside this looks like the only book to own when it comes to those pesky North American monsters. On the inside it is a whole new ballgame. I don't know if the author was trying to be funny, sarcastic or downright dillusional for including some of these creatures in his book. Has a few good references but more than a few are absurd. Even factual accounts (killer bees) has the author giving bad information. Did he make this stuff up as he went? If you buy the book you probably will read it from beginning to end, not because it is that good but because you want to see what silly thing is said next. This book could have been condensed into...Everything You Need to Know About Encountering Over 30 Terrifying....Author certainly didn't do his homework before sitting down to type.
