Summary: Made me laugh in a tough job market!!
Review: Unemployed and wearing out the soles of your shoes by hitting the pavement, knocking on doors, sending out resumes and the like? This book will brighten your day as you trudge through the task of landing your next career adventure! A quick, fun, joyful and refreshing read while tackling the job market--loved it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Insightful and hilarious
Review: Unemployed? Joe Mozian's been there, and in fact, is still there. His humor is a buoy for troubled times and a damaged economy. His audacity comes from a place deep within that we all can relate to: Joe mines the well of vengeful feelings that is the sole domain of the fired, the laid-off, or the unceremoniously dismissed. Intelligent readers will relate to his pursuit of profession, and will recognize him as one of their own, the literal Joe America in search of a job wherever he can find it. His wacky and irreverent approach to the great American job search is a hilarious tonic for this country's growing class of out-of-work professionals.

Summary: I'm STILL laughing!!
Review: Upon seeing the title of this book, I braced myself for what was inside. I knew it wasn't your run-of-the-mill satire on unemployment but never expected the genuine humor I found. These are REAL letters to REAL companies - and they even replied!! I still laugh to myself when I think of the hapless assistants who are relegated to opening their boss' mail and then sit there trying to decide if this is for real or not and whether or not to show the boss.

Can someone give this guy a job?!?! Evidently, he has too much time on his hands! If he's not gainfully employed soon, Volume II will come out. No company is safe. Better yet...don't give him a job. I'm looking forward to Volume II!

Summary: Your Hired!
Review: Very funny and a good relief for those hunting in this tough job market. These are all the cover letters you wish you could write and still get the job.

Summary: A great example of the American sense of humor.
Review: While reading this book I found myself continuously laughing out loud. I paused for a moment to think of when the last time a book made me laugh like this. The answer was never. The notion that a person would write such outrageous cover letters and actually mail them is just priceless. I have read the book cover to cover three times, and still find myself skimming through the pages and reading certain letters to friends over the phone. Many friends have ended up purchasing copies for themselves. This book is a great example of the American sense of humor and our ability to laugh at ourselves during adverse situations.

Summary: Somewhat Amusing Twist on Old Idea
Review: While the author did get a few chuckles out of me, I'm afraid the concept of wacky letters sent to companies has already been done, several times over, and his twist wasn't quite fresh enough to wow me. (In fact, my husband recalls that in the 70s or 80s someone had done the exact same thing with cover letters.) Certainly there was some charm and humor in the one where he asks his father if he can pay him for chores, but I think, for example, the Paul Rosa books and certainly Don Novello's "Lazlo Letters" were a bit sharper, and their inclusion of actual corporate responses does give them more of an edge.
