Rating: Summary: Shows how easy one's foot fits in one's own mouth! Review: Awesome list of some of the most ignorant statements made by some of the most "important" people in recent history.I found it rather satisfying to know that even the "SMART" people in this world are just as "DUMB" as the rest of us from time to time.Read this book and you will probably think a little harder before you make any quick comments about things you aren't educated about. You will find some of the most outrageous comments ever made by people who are supposed to "know what they are talking about"Not only is it good to know everyone speaks too soon once in awhile, this book is so good it will also have you laughing and perhaps wondering how these "people" got into the high social position they did.Who knows perhaps anyone can be a big wheel if we're in the right place at the right time!!

Rating: Summary: Well researched book and worth the money! Review: I have read many articles and books on history's "experts" mistakes and this book is one of the best. Enjoy every page. Congratulations!
Rating: Summary: Not a serious book; but OK for the PC crowd Review: I noticed many of the quotes were taken out of context, inaccurate, or were off-the-cuff comical/facetious remarks. Some of the "researched facts", are nothing more than partisan political opinions. It's a wonderful database kit for the left wing bumper-sticker intellectual. Of course, there's barely any quotes from the Clinton administration; but then again, Clinton's gaffs would require a 2 volume set alone! It is an interesting read, in that you get a sense of how the PC crowd shamelessly struggles to deconstruct history and facts. I'm sure Cerf and his staff giggled the whole time they were assembling the quotes for the educated derelict. Fortunately, most students of history are not that shallow-minded. Do some serious reading, and pass this silly tripe up. The title says it all: "Misinformation".

Rating: Summary: Uneven collection Review: Many of these quotes should not have been included, like King George noting that 'nothing happened today' in his diary while the Declaration of Independence was signed (unbeknownst to him, obviously). Others, like Herbert Hoover's attempts to boost the spirit of the American people, can hardly be taken at face value. As the moronic previous reviewer (my subjective right?) points out, there are much more knocks at the Republicans, perhaps due to Mr Cerf's editorship of uber-leftwing journal The Nation?
Rating: Summary: Misinformation, Misquotations, and Bad Sources Review: The idea behind this book is very nice, and the authors are quite successful at making great deal of fun, at the expense of the learned (or sometimes not so learned) experts, who should have known better. Unfortunately for an international reader, the vast majority of the events and personae selected for the book deals with the U.S.A., and may be of little interest to people outside of that country. In particular, if the sections on politics or sports make you more than chuckle occationally, it is a clear sign that you've been watching way too much american television recently. Overall, it is not a bad book - however, neither it is as hillarious as some reviews would make you believe.
Rating: Summary: A Real Expert's Recommendation Review: This book has been recommended by the late Douglas Adams (author of "Hitchhiker's Guide" and many other brilliant books) on his web page www.h2g2.com. He liked it, you will like it.

Rating: Summary: lame Review: This book is a waste of time and money. The dates are wrong, the facts are wrong, the quotations have selected items omited in order to increase dramatic effect which distorts what was quoted in the first place. There has been much better "expert-speak" documented throughout history but it's not in this book. Why? Save your money and leave this one on the shelf.
