Summary: Concise, helpful, fun to read!
Review: I have read this book twice now, and each time have found useful things in it -- the second time I was in the midst of a rewrite, and its tools for clearing away the deadwood, particularly its discussion of character functions and how to gauge whether you have too few or two many, proved particularly helpful. It's one of the best of its breed! Some of the reviewers have opined that this book is not for the advanced screenwriter. I don't think it was intended to be--advanced screenwriters don't need how-to books and I doubt they'd be looking for one.

Summary: A fine work
Review: Ms. Seger's guide has been a valuable asset to me. I am struggling, and may never achieve the successes in writing that I am hoping for. I am nonetheless delighted that this book exists. I am baffled by the smear campaign that is taking place on this page, too. I personally would recommend this book. I have to admit that I am not familiar with every single other similar work out there, but that this surely does hold its own with those that I know. Is it the best? Maybe not. Is it a useful resource? You bet!

Summary: I recommend it to all!
Review: I sponsor an annual screenplay writing competition and read several hundred scripts a year - I recommend this book to everyone who enters. My copy is dog-eared, highlighted, and yellow-tabby flagged. There are few equals or superior alternatives.

Summary: Just Okay
Review: I found, when reading this book, that the content definitely told how others improved their scripts but not how I could improve mine. In other words, I did not like all the book's examples drawn from already-produced movies. I also found the material in this book well-suited only to someone completely new to the business of screenwriting. But this book's material would help someone to understand how the movie-examples were improved. So I think the content is just okay, but not great.

Summary: This is a very fine guide
Review: I found this book as a visiting student to Wisconsin last year. I am attempting to create my own amateur scripts here in Japan, and find this as a most useful resource to my work. Thank you Linda Seeger for publishing useful resources that are accessible to novel screenwriter.

Summary: Thanks, Linda
Review: Linda, you don't know it but whenever I write a screenplay, you're with me...your thoughts, your ideas, the deep, concise wisdom in your book. Your book is the ultimate How-To, taking the murkiness out of the process and creating a beautifully clear roadmap.

When I get writer's block, though, is the time you're with me the most. I consult your book and, lo and behold, the block came from veering off-track. Your book sets me back where I should be.

Thank you, thank you...

Summary: Some useful stuff
Review: As an actor and playwright, I found much of what Linda Seger wrote to be useful. It's actually the sort of thing I wish that I had available when I started. I can only give it three stars as it does not quite adequately enough address the needs of the experienced script writer. It's, nonetheless, good, and I don't quite understand the suspicious negative postings on this page. After all, it is well-enough written, and objective, and Ms. Seger's credentials seem to be good.

Summary: The greatest book on screenwriting ever!
Review: Structure, character, dialogue, theme? "Making A Good Script Great" has got it all. And makes it all clear, accessable, and workable. The best book ever on screenwriting and rewriting. As a teacher and scriptconsultant, as well as a writer, I use this book constantly and am constantly greatful for its existence. I recommend it to my students and to everyone I know who writes. Thank you, Linda, for helping me and those I work with to make our "good scripts great!"

Summary: Good? Better? BEST!
Review: I have bought, read, studied and applied (probably ALL) of the screenwriting texts available, and without a doubt, Linda's is the best! With keen insight and knowledge based on remarkable experience, Ms. Seger leaves nothing out to help a writer turn a good story into a work of art. And every chapter reads as though she is right there working with you! I am convinced one can't miss if her words of wisdom are heeded. Good? Better? BEST! I've put it to the test! For Good she is and Better we'll be, its the BEST!

Summary: Making a Good Script Great
Review: I found this book extremely helpful with my writing, as well as Linda Seger's other books. Her suggestions and ideas hit home again and again and my writing improved because of it. Since reading Linda Seger's books, I have had several scripts optioned, for both movies and television.
