Summary: A great book by a really great person
Review: I have had the opportunity to meet with Fredrick Levy about my own career in Film Scoring and he is one if the most knowlegeble, and nicest people in Hollywood. This book is really well written and informative. If you are starting out in Hollywood, whether you are a producer, director, or whatever, this book is for you.

Summary: Why I wrote this book...
Review: I was just 17 years old when I first moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film business. At that time, I didn't know a soul and I had to start at the very bottom and work my way up.

Today I am the Vice President of a feature film production company and have worked on such films as TITANIC and REINDEER GAMES. Making it in Hollywood IS possible and I've written this guidebook to help others follow and achieve their show business dreams.

My book is a complete survey of the film industry and includes sections on writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, production designers, editors, sound and music, hair, makeup, wardrobe, visual effects, agents, executives, managers, and more. Whether you know exactly what it is you want to do in Tinseltown, or if you're just attracted to the glitz and glamour of a show biz career, this book is for you.

The book includes interviews with dozens of top industry professionals including director Jon Turteltaub (While You Were Sleeping, Phenomenon, Instinct), producer Debra Hill (Fisher King, Halloween, Crazy in Alabama), DP Stephen Katz (Gods and Monsters, Baby Geniuses), production designer Gary Wissner (I Know What You Did Last Summer), and many more. It also offers many fun anecdotes about working in Hollywood.

I hope you enjoy the book.

Summary: A great book for all aspiring filmmakers
Review: This book is probably the best investment I have made in the past year. It starts off by acknowledging the fact that it is, in fact, hard to break into Hollywood. But it follows with the statement that if you have enough determination, you can make it happen. Although some find this kind of positive encouragement cliched, I found it to be exactly what I needed: someone successful in the business telling me that I can actually reach my Hollywood goals. The book then describes the filmmaking process, step by step from pre to post-production and every detail in between. It defines and explains each and every person who helps contribute to a film and never seems to drag. I strongly reccomend this book to those who are like me, dreaming to make it in Hollywood. Thanks to Mr. Levy for offering this incredible source of knowledge. Well done.

Summary: HOLLYWOOD SCREENWRITER LOVES IT!
Review: This book is simply wonderful! I am a young screenwriter (young in my career, that is) in Hollywood and recently got my hands on a copy of Frederick Levy's book. After reading it, I feel I can approach any situation regarding my work with even more knowledge and confidence. In this business, both are a must. I hope to read more books in the future by this cut-to-the-chase author!

Summary: Excellent Book on the Industry!
Review: This is one of the most comprehensive and compelling books I've read about breaking into show business. Levy's savvy and inside experience in Hollywood make this novel a most valuable tool for anyone wanting to become part of "the biz." It's really inspiring, making the impossible seem possible. Highly recommended!

Summary: It Gave Me Hope
Review: This is the first book I bought after I decided on a career in television production. Thanks to this book, I've never looked back or questioned my decision. Levy outlines all the aspects of the industry and gives you tips on how to make it if your uncle isn't Steven Spielberg. What a great resource!

Summary: A former student of Levy's
Review: To be honest, the inititial reason I bought this book was because Federick taught a class I had in college. At first I was a bit skeptical about this book. I didn't know how good of an author he turn out to be. Now, after having read it, and working in the Hollywood entertainment industry myself, I can tell you that this book is a must for anyone trying to succeed in any aspect of the film industry. This book teaches you what would usually take years of experience.
