Review: As a devoted fan of Kinky Friedman, I've got all his books and even listened to some of his music. Of course I loved this book. It's full of the little gems that make you laugh out loud - and cause other people on the plane to look at you funny. What I noticed (because I've read all of his books several times) is that this book is like a "Greatest Hits" album, in that it is mainly composed of the good snippits from his books. That is not to say I didn't think it was great; I bought it for the same reason you buy "Best Of" albums when you've got all the songs already because you own all of the band's albums: all the good stuff is in one place! Keep 'em coming, Kinkster!

Summary: Don't give it to a true Texan
Review: I bought three copies, two for gifts, one for myself. After I finished my copy I decided I couldn't give my Texan friends the books I bought for them. A little of the Kinkster goes a long way. True, he turns a funny phrase, and only Dennis Miller can beat him for arcane references. But true Texans would not be amused.

Review: James Joyce writes about Dublin like Friedman writes about Texas.I suspect the Dubliners could no more understand Kinky than could Texans understand James nor do I expect either would want to.This book is a collection of stuff that, though not too deep, is very enjoyable.
How's this for some simple philosophy that can be applied to anywhere..
"It's no disgrace to come from Texas;it's just a disgrace to have to go back there."

Review: Kinky has always known how to turn a funny phrase, and his insights into Texans are spot on. A fantastic book from a fabulously funny man.

Review: Kinky is at his irreverent best here in a scrap book style book that generally talks about Texas, but wanders onto other topics without any particular reason. If you can't laugh at this book you can't laugh at all.
