Summary: A must-read if you make your living as a musician or hope to
Review: An awe-inspiring, often hair-raising, insider's look at the music industry that's as good as having a friend--and one hell of a knowledgable friend--in the business. Except that a friend would be hard-pressed to convey the depth, breadth and sheer mass of information presented here.

Thall's credentials are impeccable, and his sometimes-lawyerly tone doesn't detract from the surprisingly compelling material. In its way the book is as much of a page-turner as any horror story, possibly because--given the pitfalls awaiting musicians that Thall describes (and points out ways to avoid)--that's exactly what it is.

Destined to be a classic.

Summary: The ultimate must have book for those in the music business
Review: From beginning to end, this extremely informative book is filled with music industry tips, anecdotes, and reality checks from one of the most respected entertainment lawyers in the country. As an entertainment lawyer myself, I have benefited greatly from Mr. Thall's straight talk on the way the industry actually works. I have recommended this book to all of my music clients and their managers, all of whom have reported that they have found the book easy to read, eye opening, and well worth their time.

If you are currently in or thinking about getting into the music industry, make the modest investment and purchase this book---to get this much advice, guidance, and perspective from a qualified attorney, particularly one with Mr. Thall's impressive resume, you will easily spend hundreds or thousands more than the cost of this excellent book.

Summary: The new music industry bible
Review: I had looked forward to this book when I first heard about, and have just finished it. It approaches careers in the music industry from angles not considered in supposedly similar publications. It is a must read for anyone pursuing a career in music, as a musician, manager, label type or president! Having spent over 40 years in the industry, heading up a number of successful companies, I learned things I didn't know, and they were useful! I can't recommend it too highly.

Summary: Get This Book
Review: It reads like a music biz "Who done it?" or "Who's doing it?"
suspense. It's dense with information and uniquely revealing about
all the player's agendas. Couldn't put it down - best music business
book there is.
