Summary: Great Conversation Piece!
Review: This book helps the timid and withheld burst from their proverbial shells and voice their opinions. Leaves much for discussion and open ended questions lead the readers in many trips down memory lane.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A conversationalist's goldmine!
Review: This book is a goldmine of topics that take daily conversations beyond the trivial and mundane. I have carried this book around with me many times, and it has turned many a dull conversation about the weather into a sparkling discussion about life: my attitude in my own life and in the lives of others.

In a group of friends, this book works wonders. Asking "serious" and "personal" questions to your friends can be artificial and difficult, but with the help of this book it's a piece of cake. Have one member of the group pick a question number at random, and then have them answer that question, followed by the other members of the group. It works fantastic!

My only gripe with this book is that as a Christian, I found that some of the questions were trivial and unimportant. For example, questions about personal boundaries with respect to sexuality or the preservation of human life were easy for me to answer on the basis of the guidelines of the Bible. My Christian friends also found that these questions didn't result in much discussion, because we all agreed with each other from the outset! We also found that some questions are too direct and inappropriate, such as very specific questions about your first sexual encounter.

However, such questions can easily be skipped over by the discerning reader, and there are more than enough other questions in this book to keep a group busy in healthy conversation for a long time. A very useful tool!

Summary: A must for road trips
Review: This book is a must if your travelling with good friends or even with someone you just met. Nothing makes a road trip better then good creative conversation. This book gets you started!

Summary: One useful little book!
Review: This book is definetely an inventive way to get to know someone without the embarassing silence that you use to think of questions... I picked it up one day while talking to a friend on the phone, and spent the rest of the day reading it! I have found things in people with the incidental use of this book that might not have shown up in everyday contact. A very good tool for discussion and discovery, highly recommended!

Summary: wow
Review: this book makes you think just one word WOW!

Summary: A real conversation starter!
Review: This is the best ice-breaker you could ever ask for. One question asked amongst two or more people will spark a single conversation for 30 minutes or more. If you have difficulty getting conversations started or want to mix things up at your next party getting everyone talking together, this is the book for you. Put it on your coffee table and if someone doesn't pick it up and start asking questions, you can.

Summary: SHAME ON MUSE
Review: What a shame someone abuses this review section as a way to advertise one's own book, Bartholomew "Muse". How off-putting it is to see that the praising on Mr Stock's bestseller at the beginning was just a paving for hardselling "your own book". The Book of Questions has been around for more than 20 years; there is a reason for it to stay despite the comparatively limited number of questoins. Please don't fool the readers here by self-promoting coz that is obviously hypocritical; Stock's book deserves 5 stars instead of the mere 3 you gave.

Summary: a great way to get to know someone
Review: When I usually meet people for the first time, especially girls that I'm interested in, I always manage to bring up questions from this book. It's great seeing what you do and don't have in common with others. Plus, if you like to talk online, this book makes a late night chat room, more interesting.

Summary: Fun and versatile
Review: While a simple concept, this book is surprisingly fun and amazingly useful in a variety of circumstances.

I first started carrying it as a way to start conversations in parties. A naturally shy person, I dreaded being in a social situation and not having anything to talk to people about. If things got awkward, I could simply pull out the book and say, "Pick a number between 1 and 122."

I've found it useful in business as a way to get to know my co-workers or to inspire brainstorming during meetings. The questions may not have anything to do with the topic at hand, but considering the answers and discussing them gets the creative juices flowing.

In playing traditional role-playing games, I've found the book useful in developing characters. I ask my players to pick a number and answer the question in character. It's a great way to build depth into the characters and I imagine it would be useful for actors and directors of stage or screen as well.

All in all, you won't regret having this book as a resource and even if you never share the questions with others, thinking about your own answers will let you explore the fullness of your self.

Summary: Good but there are better.
Review: While this book was probably the first in the question line of books it is not necessarily the best. The questions are relatively plain. If you're looking for a quiet reflective evening this is probably a good choice but if you want to rock the party with some bust out humor try some of the newer question books such as 'The Book of Strange Questions and Twisted Moral Dilemmas, Bizarro.'
