Summary: Newton's Telecom Dictionary 16th/e
Review: Excellent book, plenty of good informative information. Only drawback is that it is not available on CD. As a helpdesk employee it would be useful to have it in a format that could more quickly be accessed.

Summary: More than a dictionary
Review: This is a valuable book for the telecommunications administrator and others who interact in the field. The field of telecommunications is a maze of technical terms and buzz words. Harry Green guides the reader by talking in a mixture of technical and common language. It more than a dictionary. Its one mans quest to expain the world of telecommunications. Technical and non-technical people alike find this book valuable.

Summary: I buy copies for new tech writers...
Review: In my several years as a tech writer with a telecommunications company, I found this indispensible. It's worth every penny of the price, and I find myself buying copies for new hires all the time.

If you work with people who assume that ATM *always* means "automated teller machine," get a copy of this book.

Summary: A good reference.
Review: I found this book very helpful in preparing a presentation for my college Datacom class. Newton's defintions are fairly simple to understand and are intermixed with some rather humorous definitions such as his definition of garage sales. I would recommend this book to any student majoring in Telecom or Computer Networking because it gives good, helpful definitions. One complaint I have about this book is that there are several spelling errors (mainly missed letters on the end of plural words) in the definitions I looked up which I found distracting.

Summary: Great reference but a CD ROM is needed
Review: This is a great reference tool, but one must ask why there is not a CD rom Version. I could easily have it running behind the scenes and use it on demand and save a few trees.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not for proofreaders
Review: Overall, very complete on its entries, good on definitions, but the entries are not clear on how the words should be written in copy. All words are not in alpha order, though they are in the same vicinity.

Summary: Newton's Telecom Dictionary
Review: Fantastically informative book for all of those middle management types that are looking for fancy words to use to make yourself seem impressive. Since this book is NOT on CDROM, I can pick it up anytime, flip through the pages, and learn something quick and easy.

Review: but a CD-ROM would be MUCH more useful... will one be available in the near future?
