Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best server plus resource I have read.. Review: This book is very straight forward and well written. It is hands down the best resource I have seen on the subject. The cd-rom has some good test prep on it as well. If you are looking to take the server plus exam this book is a must have. Highly recommended!!!!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good Reference but... Review: This book was an "Ok" study guide for the Server+ exam but just by using this book I only passed by the skin of my teeth. I didn't think the question in this book remotely resembled the actual Server+ exam questions. I had to rely on my 4 years server experience to pass. The real exam was full of scenario based questions and the question in this book did not. The content of the book was pretty good. I did notice some technical errors though. Not bad as a reference but I would not use this book as your only source for the exam.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Errors and author's style makes it hard to read Review: This is an OK book for the Server+ but it is devalued becuase the author drones on in an apparent attempt to reassure the reader that he knows his stuff. This detracts from the actual material. TO begin with I was OK with it but as my studies became more intense I found it became distracting. That aside this book is OK (just) but I would hesitate to recommend it as a stand alone study resource for the exam. There are errors, some major, and in some places it contradicts itself. I have bought a number of the 'Bible' series and this is the first that I was dissapointed with.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book has it all. Review: This is one of the easiest to follow texts I've read. His layout and incorporation of Exam tips, step by step instructions, and usefull diagrams is a welcome change from the usual dry and often confusing prep texts. Chapter 7, Troubleshooting and Problem Determination, is an extremely useful resource for not only test preparation, but for real world troubleshooting. This book starts from square one, basics, and takes you logically through server installation, configuring, upgrading, and maintenance. This book is a must have if you are serious about Server+ Certification.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Finally, a Prep-Book you can understand. Review: This is one of the easiest to understand preparation books I've read. His organized approach of presenting material follows logically through out. His tips, step by step instructions, and usefull illustrations, were a welcome change from the usual boring and often confusing material out there. Chapter 7, on troubleshooting, is a usefull reference for real world troubleshooting as well. If you are looking for a Server+ book that fits the bill - this is it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Concise, detailed, complete. The Best book I ever read. Review: Too often an author writes to fill up space. This is not the case with the Server+ Certification Training Guide. Each chapter explains in just enough detail to cover the subject. Elton has done a wonderful job in giving just enough information about the additional concepts mentioned in a chapter to help the reader understand how that information applies to the current subject without sidetracking the reader. References to other chapters are included which explain the additional concepts in their own chapter but doesn't require the reader to leapfrog about the text to get a full understanding of the current subject. I appreciate the fact that Web based references are noted at the point at which they are most important instead of in an Appendix at the end of the book. I feel that this allows the reader to complete their knowledge of a given subject before moving to the next subject. Important notes, informative addendums, and exam highlights are notated in sidebars to help the reader and refrains from becoming cluttered. Hats off to the Editor as well. Virtually no spelling or grammatical errors which is very unusual for a book of this size and content. I only noticed 1 graphical error where the 'Crossover cable pin-out wire color' (right graphic) is a copy of the 'Straight-through cable pin-out wire color' (right graphic). But the correct graphic is easily determined by the reader from the rest of the information. The book is broken into 3 sections; Exam Preparation, Final Review, and Appendices. The Final Review is in the form of an Outline based on the Test Objectives of the Exam and addresses each of the objectives with a one to three sentence answer. The CD includes a sample Exam but is just icing on the cake. I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in achieving his or her Server+ certification, or anyone currently interested in the industry. William A.
