Rating: Summary: Must have training guide Review: Mr Jernigan has written a well organized, readable training and reference guide. This is a multi-purpose book. Essential for gaining server+ certification, a must have reference guide for the network administrator
Rating: Summary: Beware! Review: Not bad but could be better. I found this book did not provide me with any good tips on what to expect on the exam. I found the practice questions in this book were not like the ones on the actual exam. SO beware! A few technical errors need to be fixed as well. The book is not bad but I would of expected better from Exam Gear!
Rating: Summary: Give me a break Review: One reveiewer wrote "The best book I have ever read". Give me a break. This book is poorly organized, hard to read becuase of the amount of callouts and notes and written in only the most basically acceptable way. For someone to say that it is the best book they have ever read is really just stretching it it a little too far. A friend of the author perhaps???
Rating: Summary: Server+ you are covered. Review: Ready to take the server+ exam and want a book to go over the exam objectives to make sure you have the best chance of passing the exam first time? Then you might want to grab a copy of this book. It is also tailored made for the classroom training environment. Jernigan had taken the book into 8 parts with part1 covering network types, server roles, buses, memory and hardware. Part 2 works on the installation and 3 is configuration including RADI 0, 1, & 5. Although RAID 4 should have been included as well. Part 4 is the upgrading and parts 5 is proactive maintenance followed up with part 6 taking on the server environmental areas. Part 7 deals directly with troubleshooting and lastly part 8 covers the disaster recovery. Each section has review questions and exercise, the cd included uses the ExamGear test software which can be setup in several testing formats. Overall this book seems to everything covered.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: The book is laid out well and covers all the objectives. Elton does not try to over complicate the text. I believe this book a must for anyone seeking Server+ certification.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This book can be used not only to prepare for the test, but as a reference and planning resource. Elton Jernigan's approach is very pragmatic and to the point. He explains terms and concepts in a simple and easy to understand way. He provides clear exam objectives at the beginning of the lesson, presents the information needed to meet the objectives, and provides relevant review questions at the end of every lesson. I strongly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Prep Book Review: This book gives the reader a broad spectrum of subjects covered in the CompTIA exam listing of subject areas for Server+. It is written in a down-to-earth manner, not obfuscated in sesquipedalian verbosity. Not only a good exam text, its broad range of subject matter will make a good desktop reference to bring back to mind those not often used facts that appear from time to time.
Rating: Summary: Good, but dont use it on its own Review: This book is better than some of the other offerings but still falls short in a number of areas namely accuracy and real-world relevance. For the test, you will need more than just this
Rating: Summary: Not just an exam prep guide! Review: This book is densely loaded with much useful information. But don't let that scare you: all information is presented in a concise but accessible manner, replete with many illustrations and diagrams that make what is usually very technical and "dry" instead very easy to understand. There is a wealth of additional pointers and "side-bars", many of which are well worth the cost of the book by themselves. Mr. Jernigan has written not just an excellent Server+ Certification exam preparation guide, but also a handy daily reference for those IT professionals who have been given the responsibility to operate and maintain today's very complex networks and servers. Everything you need to pass the Server+ exam is in this book. But the best part is all of the other extra information that will make your job much easier.
Rating: Summary: Server+ Certification Training Guide Review: This book is very informative and well written. Anyone attempting to study for their exam would benefit from this book. The author does an excellent job with details.
