Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THIS IS A MUST HAVE BOOK FOR COMPUTER TEK'S
Review: THIS BOOK ONLY NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED MORE OFTEN. IT COULD ALSO INCLUDE JUMPER SETTINGS FOR HARDDRIVES, AND ADD WIN95 STUFF AS WELL AS DOS. MAKE IT THICKER BUT NOT BIGGER. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: I wouldn't recommend it
Review: This book really doesn't contain alot of useful information relating to today's machines and OS's. The first three chapters are useful, and perhaps the chapter on CD-ROM specs is helpfull too. Otherwise alot of what's in this book is useless or obsolete data. For instance: Who cares what the HDD geometry is of a 48 MB hard disc manufactured by Compaq over ten years ago. Although nobody uses DOS anymore, the book does cover all DOS commands up to Version 6.22. Usefull if you threw away your old DOS manuals when Win 95 came out. Pay little attention to the photos of those CPU's they show. I noticed the Intel i80186 is missing. A very rare chip indeed - but I had one. As well as my Celeron 300a and who nows how many more. One GLARING and INEXCUSABLE omission from this book is anything relating to BIOS of any sort. This is sufficiant cause to remove this book from all bookstore shelves entirely!

So if you do make the mistake of buying this book - it won't be a total waste of money. ( )END

Summary: Poor editing on a book of this nature.
Review: This book would get five stars, but, it has a fatal error in my opinion. On page 64 of I/O interfaces, it lists that USB 2 has a bandwidth of 480 megabytes(MB) per second, which should say 480 megabits(Mb) per second. It makes one wonder what other mistakes there are, and kinda defeats the purpose of this book. This book is to provide solid facts on the spot, when you need it. So if someone, not very tech knowledgable, needed vital data on the specifications of USB 2.0, they would be left with wrong information.
